Three and a half years ago I met Idyllic Harry Patch when I went to purchase a different pony. It was not love at first sight, he was missing a fair bit of his coat on his underside and his ears had scabbed over to the point where he couldn't hear very well, despite the best efforts of his owners he had an allergy that had blown out of all proportion. Some discussions with my husband later involving a major wobbly on my part that would leave a toddler in awe 'we' decided that the pony had to come and live with us and so home he came along with his little cart and harness Some £2000 later he was on the road to recovery, we were eating baked beans for dinner and my husbands patience was threadbare but being a generally caring chap he tolerated the situation in a grown up and staid manner and it only cost me the price of a new XBox! So here we are three and a half years later Harry Patch is now seven years old and lives a leisurely life here due to our inability to find him a little rider, he likes a jump on the lunge and a potter down to the village for a chat with the local knitting circle I think this may be the year he finally gets out and about more, our other pony Joey (who features in the story at the back of the Showing Journal each month) may well have to share the limelight this year. I do not much fancy all that scrubbing though! our Harry Patch likes his mud 2012: 2013: 2014 (video) www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMN0hSlLYtMToday (he was white when he left his stable!) Even my husband is very attached to him now!

Wow, can that boy move, well done to you toaster, what a fantastic job you've done, I hope you have a brilliant time out with him this year.
Can't wait to hear of your adventures, I love to read of your tales, they're brilliant, you should write books, they'd be a huge hit. Maybe do something like the 'Hovis' books, what a massive fan base they have, plus how much money they raise for charity ....hmmm, food for thought maybe !!

Thank you all, comparing the pictures makes me realise what a rough start we had with him, the first few vets visits certainly were doom and gloom! He may never be a show stopper but he has taught us a lot and is much adored

Milo is doing so well away at 'school' He has become much more independent these last couple of weeks Here is ridden by a child in a school situation for only the second time. I cannot unfortunately pinch this amazing little jockey but I have confidence that his new little intended jockey will build an incredible bond with him and have some wonderful fun www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjvC1CE17xw
