I was just wondering whether anyone has done this and what you have to look for in the roller you buy etc? Our neighbours always used to roll our fields but they have been rushed off their feet in recent years- every year they promise to come in and roll but then it doesn't happen to the extent that our winter fields are a mess!
We have an old 4x4 that my husband is intending to mend (we shall see!) that would be perfect for the job but I also have a strong but not strongest 4x4 that I drive all the time- obviously I don't want it bumped to **** but am getting desperate!
I know I could look for another contractor but independence is appealling and I can't afford a tractor or quad right now.
Good idea or crazy idea?!
Many thanks

We have a 10 foot roller that we tow with a landrover defender to roll the fields - works well for us but would depend on what 4 X 4, size of roller and not being too inpatient to do it if they're bordering on being too wet.

We have a granite roller which is about 6 - foot long, we tow it with a Mitsubishi L200, no problems. We also tow harrows with it
