I am trying to decide whether to go for the first time this year but I am confused regarding what classes we have qualified for so looking for some kind person who can help. I suppose my main question is can you only enter the class you qualified in or can you enter other classes that you are eligible for?
For example, we've qualified an M&M yearling so that one's easy but can he also do the Lee Smith HP classes?
Also, we tried an RI young riders class with an older pony and were second but technically the pony is still a Novice so I'm not sure which classes he is eligible for at the finals??
Any help would be greatly appreciated so I can make my mind up whether to go or not....

We have not done PUK for several years now and back then there were qualification cards given out like confetti for this that and the other class .. then it went to one card with a list of open championship classes and the ring judge or show secretary signed the relevant box when you qualified and if you wanted to do the Lee-Smith HP championship classes you had to buy a separate Lee-Smith card which you had signed in the ring too
The orange card my daughter recently received in the show ring simply says that she has qualified for the PULK Supreme Championship Show 21/8/16 and the PUK Winter Classic March 2017 and that this qualification means she has also qualified for Equifest 2016, so I assume that once you have an orange ticket such as this, you are entitled to enter ANY classes at PUK and/or Equifest 2016 with any pony just on the one card.
I have been and looked at the PUK website this morning and I cannot find any more information and so I guess the only thing is for you to ring PUK Office on 01480 277120 and ask them to clarify
Your pony still appears to be a novice for ridden classes despite his second place in RI Y/R class (well done by the way) and if he has not been to RI/HOYS/Olympia in the past year or two then he can also do restricted classes together with, of course, opens so lots for him to do at the summer champs
If your M&M yearling is genuinely home-produced then yes, it would seem he can do the Lee-Smith HP class too but you must clarify this when you speak to PUK Office
Good luck and enjoy if you go x

Thanks bigmama, you're right, the cards do just say we have qualified so that would appear to mean we can do any classes but I will give them a ring to clarify. Edwin is only 5 and far exceeded our expectations with a second in the young riders qualifier We are genuinely home produced as me and my sister work fulltime and the only help we have is our dad who feeds and turns out for us but I will check on that as well. Thanks again for your help

I rang them to find out which classes I had qualified for as just had a collection of cards! They were very helpful. We might go this year so perhaps see you there!

I rang at lunchtime and told the lady which classes and which shows we had been given qualification cards at and she explained which classes we have qualified for.
On the schedule classes 1 - 46 (I think) are open classes so no need to qualify (these include the Lee Smith HP classes). Classes 100 onwards are the championship classes.
The shows have to send results in so I think if you were really unsure they will be able to look you up and it sounded like if you entered a class you weren't eligible for they would let you know. You have to have qualified for the championship classes, you can't just enter any you are eligible for if you have qualified for one. For example our boy qualified in the young riders RI so he has qualified for the Young Riders final.
Hope that helps.
