I thought Entries would be up being on the end of Equifest but entries still dire in the plaited pony class we won 133cm timberwolf SHP out of 3 and was the only one forward in the lee smith 133 which we would of took champion had the pony not decided it was perfect time for a bronk.
Hunters/RH etc in the ring next door I think the biggest class I saw was 5

Oh dear that's sad. Everything has to keep evolving to keep up with change and I think they just didn't change quick enough.

There were people there and entries weren't what we remembered but apparently they were up on last year. The sash's were just beautiful and so were the rosettes and it was actually a lovely atmosphere and quite relaxing. We had a chance to chat with friends, many of whom we had been like ships - passing through the night, after a frantic week at Equifest. The Evening was very civilised and considerate. 'Walking away' from a second Equifest Evening paid dividends and the pony presented himself as an 'old pro', and took Reserve Supreme Non Native Section behind the Cob that went on to win Supreme of Show.
The judges we had were very nice - chatty and approachable. In summary, we had a great day and were really glad that we saved our pony and could stay and compete. Thanks so, so much to PUK, the Stewards, Judges etc and all those in the background that makes these days possible.

I'm not one to plaster results all over social media, but I think it is a huge assumption to say that you would have taken the Lee Smith Championship - it is also very subjective. The (only) 143cms SHP pony that went on to win the Timberwolf Championship was placed 2nd in the Lee Smith because he wrong legged. It was clear that the judge was disappointed and clarified with the child that she knew the only reason she was placed there was because of that. He then specifically asked her to stay for the Championship class because it was a separate class and often mistakes could be rectified. The pony was foot perfect and went on to win that Championship as well. He was a worthy winner - he won on merit and was certainly not there by default which is rather what is implied. It is worth mentioning that the pony - very, very lightly shown throughout the week because of the unforgiving ground, also won the 143cms section of the Equifest KBIS Championship SHP class on Thursday night, where he behaved impeccably. Not wanting to over face him and subject him to a back to back evening performance, he didn't contest the Championship. Lightly shown throughout the year because he is still relatively young, he also won the Large Mixed height Pretty Polly SHP Final at the Royal International this year.............. That said - there were people there and entries weren't what we remembered but apparently they were up on last year. The sash's were just beautiful and so were the rosettes and it was actually a lovely atmosphere and quite relaxing. Thanks so, so much to PUK, the Stewards, Judges etc and all those in the background that makes these days possible. It's not an assumption when the judge came up and told the child he was his champion if he hadn't bronked in his gallop no one implied that you didn't deserve the championship but spoken on fact of what the judge said. So you can get of you high horse I didn't see your ponies class and was slightly bemused as to why he was 2nd in the Lee Smith as it as beautiful pony shame the people who own seem so arrogant

well - this is why I rarely comment on social media - it always ends up getting personal. I state the facts and I am called arrogant for doing so. Arrogant is the last word people would use to describe me. Really sorry about your buck - sincerely - I just love that little pony - absolutely super and so consistent. a real child's gem. I loved the bay pony as well that I think came reserve and very well ridden

I didn't say the 14hh didn't deserve to win the champipionship I stated a fact the judge told her that she would of won the championship if he hadn't bucked
Where was the need to go on about how pony has one this that and the other almost like it was it God given right to have won the championship. He was the only one that behaved and went well in the championship and rightly won. We walked away laughing because we love the cheeky side to our pony
Was our winner for the kbis class and also the Timberwolf Championship as I knew our pony wouldn't do any good because she preferably him as SP

I really don't know why judges feel the need to say ''you would have won if' !!!! If your pony/rider makes a mistake in a championship surely common sense would say you would have had a better chance of winning it had you gone foot perfect!! I keep seeing people stating on social media 'judge said we would have won if' bla bla bla, surely it's enough just to say had a blip in the championship so wasn't placed or wasn't placed but judge said how much they liked my pony and what a shame it didn't go well!!! I think it's unprofessional of judges to say to someone you would have won if!!
In relation to puk entries we go to equifest Tuesday and are ready for home by Sunday so showing on Sunday doesn't appeal to us but I do think the idea of other societies and associations holding classes on the Sunday is a good idea for those who it suits!

We did puk for one season quite a few years ago and just remember it being very expensive, then they moved both the winter and summer champs so ruled it out for us. These days there are too many shows and societies to join. Maybe puk has had it's day judging by the lack of entries or maybe they can get it back, not sure what they need to do this, I just hope equifest stays as it is with no hoys etc and plenty of open classes for everyone at a reasonable cost.

I remember back in the day a top ten placing at PUK was something to be pleased with. Now you are lucky to get 10 in a class.

Entries were very poor with some finals only having one in them . We did a couple of classes with our Shetland and she was the only one in the novice smalls and only two in the Lee Smith small breeds . Our Amateur small breeds final had three in . According to the results on the PUK website we won the Kingsford A and Bs but we didn't even come forward as pony very tired .

It was such a great week we really looked forward to our weeks holiday at Peterborough and the evening performance in front of that packed grandstand...WOW!

Back in the day, 90's/early 2000's this was THE show to go to. Very few classes had less than 30 and many of the ridden classes had to be divided into 20+ per section.A win in the championship classes was only slightly surpassed by HOYS.The office window was completely covered with for sale adverts(FOC!). It's so sad that this show has completely imploded. Dictatorship, arrogance, complacency and greed seem to have been the nails in the coffin for such a spectacular show. RIP PUK so sad that an institution has crumbled!

What a shame Puk summer champs is now a 1 day show....I can remember in the day when the entries were 40+ in the Riding horse sections.... When my daughter did first ridden there was over 60 in the classes. She had a horrible fall and that was one of the reasons the classes were split according to entries the following year. I also remember when they has lightweight and heavyweight show hunter pony classes and as Admin said a top ten placing was to be proud of.

My niece rode my Shetland back in 2001 to win the pairs overall title at puk. Under the lights in that outdoor arena was fantastic. Still got the tape and love to watch it. It was the same year he qualified for Olympia. Remember my niece in tears. It was a real achievement back then. Such a shame to hear it was not well supported at Equifest.

We just did a workers with one of mine there, I would of done the timberwolf but my shp was that knackered we decided not to. My workers had 6 in it I think, such a shame, as others have said above people have reminisced to me the times when there were 50 odd ponies in a class there. It is a good show, but the only thing I can think of is that everyone is so knackered after the week of equifest they give puk a miss on the Sunday?

At the end of Equifest week it's just too much to do an extra day especially on such hard ground... we did the 15+ champs on the Sunday but only because there was a bit more grass coverage on their rings - plus the entry fees were reasonable. I do think that Puk entry fees are excessive - much more than 15+ or Equifest! So we won't be doing puk any time soon..
