Hi All, just some advice and suggestions wanted please?
I have a 6yo sec d gelding around about 15hh.
Currently fed equibeet, linseed, alpha a oil and saracens re leve. He's had a touch of stress laminitis hence trying to be very careful and that's why we put him on the re leve - been on it about 1.5/2 months now. he's being worked 5 days out of 7 and shown perhaps once every 3 or 4 weeks but seems to have dropped a bit of top since been on the releve and isn't looking as well compared to a few months back. Thinking of coming of the relieve but wanted some suggestions on a low sugar and starch feed?
He's also on equine America electrolytes, fed ablib haylage (not the greatest quality) and feedmark's sarc ex due to a few unfortunate sarcoids!
Open to any suggestions!

What was he eating before you added the ReLeve? Presumably it replaced something else. A diet has to be considered as a whole, and for me the first thing to think of is a balancer, to make sure all necessary micronutrients are supplied. Why not have a chat with the Saracen nutritionists for advice? They know their range and can advise you. Nothing you are feeding should have too much sugar or starch, but I wonder if it is short in other nutrients. On their advice I fed my weaned foals on ReLeve as part of their diet over last winter and was very happy with it, but an adult in work needs a different diet to growing foals.
