Hi guys what do you suggest a groom wears for the stripping faze at hoys? Open Cob section on the sat? Is it the same as the rider or smart trousers and tweed?

You don't go into the ring to assist with cinformation in the. classes at HOYS .. the class get split and half come back out to the collecting area before the jockey returns to the ring to present the horse for that section. Nothing stopping you being smartly turned out though .. best of all enjoy ... Good Luck

Having only been to HOYS lately with ponies where you are split for conformation and come out the ring,
Last time I watched a ridden horse class at HOYS the grooms went into the ring because of helping jockeys get back on after judge had rode etc

Ideally, have one person of your group 'suitably' dressed, as has been mentioned above. Just in case.
But, absolutely vital is a suitable pair of shoes/boots which you can hastily walk in in comfort, down the long (probably wet & in places, soggy sawdusty!) roadway.
Crucially, make sure you have all the kit you need - as running back to the wagon park/stables to fetch something you or your jockey forgot is simply NOT an option.
Good luck - enjoy!

Fab thanks guys. So i would be ok in a nice pair of cord trousers/boots. Shirt gillet and beagler? Plan on towing a little trailer behind a pushbike with all the gear we need in it. Never done hoys as its our first time qual. Done RI etc. Just want to make sure Im prepped ready.

Unless you have a 'mobility scooter', this may not be allowed, so do make sure before you get there.
But surely, one horse, one rug, one SMALL carry-able basket/shoulder-slung grooming kit? Horse can take its own rug to the collecting 'tent' so you'll not have to lug much down there. All that needs done once the animal is in the collecting ring is a quick mouth, leg, rein & rider's boot wipe - and quarter marks if you do them. Everything else should have been done before your jockey got on . . . .
Travel light, save yourself the hassle!

I have to say that the pushbike/trailer whilst sounding like a good idea to transport stuff also sounds extremely dangerous in such confined circumstances .

Well guest, there was nothing nasty in my comment, just explaining that HOYS is not like a normal show where there is a lot of space. Shame you don't have the guts to log in when you make that sort of comment because there certainly was no need for that! I too hope that the OP has a wonderful time.

Do the Horse classes wear evening attire? Hacks cobs riding horses and hunters? Or like the m and ms wear tweed?

Ever since the classes have been starting so early, if you're competing in the International Arena in a class which runs to a rosette placing (from memory, you have a Cob, so you will be) even though it is silly-o'clock am. then YES, it's 'Evening' attire.
Correct dress code is in the BSHA Judges' Handbook/ Rulebook.
if you're stuck on the morning, find someone to help tie the stock neatly and pinned safely & correctly - put ladies' hair in a bun or similar. No gaudy scrunchies. There is always someone about to help with stocks. If I was there, I'd be happy to do so ;)
Placed or not, this is your Final!!
So, ENJOY it to the full.

Sorry to jump on this post, I have a very similar question. How do I do my own post so I don't jump onto the OP post.
