Urgently in need of some help! We recently moved livery yards and after moving and paying up realised we had been over charged! Sent lots of polite messages and proof over payment. Told by yard owner that they would look into it and get back. Heard nothing- sent another polite message asking for an up date to get a rude message back saying again they'd sort. Over a month now and still heard nothing and no sign of money ever coming back! Trusted owner and paid what stated ( despite thinking at time it was wrong!) so that we could move on good terms and now I feel a complete mug! There was no contract but regular payments out of account show what for. Does any body have any advice on whether to pursue it or do we just kiss the money goodbye? It's a good few hundred pounds that we could do with! Hoped they'd do the decent thing but obvious they won't now Any advice most appreciated !

Take what paperwork you have and get some advice from the CAB, they will know what you can and cannot do. Often they offer a free legal consultation. My daughter did this when she had a dispute with a former employer; they gave exact advice of how to sort it out and were on the button. Good luck. Oh keep a diary, if you have not then do one now, plus whatever correspondence you now send do it recorded deliver so you have proof. The other route you could take is to go to your local Trading Standards, they may be able to guide you. Failing getting any returns report them to their local Tax Office... just in case they are hiding income from them!

Print off what payments you've made, make up a spreadsheet detailing it and take it round and ask face to face. Be polite but get your facts right and straight talking. Ask politely for a refund!
Good luck
