Come on then, it's not too late for me to get down to Paddy Power and put some money on! 💸 I've heard a lot of guff this season about ponies who are certain to win their classes at HOYS for less than honourable reasons from various members of this board. Time to put your money where your mouth is and tell us who these fortunate souls are going to be!

Philippa, the Highland winner was decided long before the beginning of August

Maybe so but as I know absolutely nothing about the Highland circles I'm merely pointing out that I was forwarded this info early August.

Please don't spoil the achievement of this lovely mare who incidently has a very knowledgeable new owner ! I watched every show in the class and thought she would win and I have no connection with either the pony the rider or the owner.

I’m taking nothing away from it at all. I’m sure it was well deserved and it may be that people pinned it to win early on in the season for this reason. Not everyone on here is out to be negative and derogatory to other competitors!!! I would be over the moon if people earmarked us to win. Would certainly show we were doing something right.

I wouldn't take anything away from any of thw winners as all the classes I watched I thought were really well deserved, particularly the M&M Lead Rein such a tough class but they would have been my top 3. I could have predicted the Small breeds and Sec B class as well months ago but again they thoroughly deserved their places. The C's as well I am sure many would have predicted some of the top places but remember these are top ponies who if they go well on the day and have 'good form' under the judges then they are going to do well. Well done to all and all those still to compete.

This thread was never about this, please correct me if I am wrong, it was about all of those people who kept yelling that it was all a fix, so before HOYS they were invited to give the results, nobody did, which goes to prove they are not fixed. Congratulations to everyone who qualified and who's horses and ponies went well regardless to their placings.

Exactly - I am not saying it was 'fixed' but results can be reliably predicted IF ponies go well! However was there some clever use of conformation marks in some classes? Yes in my opinion to ensure some could not be beaten or would not win!

The person who sent me their prediction for the highlands did so because they were invited to.

The judge of the smalls is a good friend of the winner The winner of the smalls is judging the coloureds on sunday The judge of the smalls daughter is riding on Sunday 2+2 must equall 5 Ummm this will be interesting!! Especially as the winner of the smalls was NOT a "form" horse. Correct me if I am wrong but surely it is not generally accepted that a person can compete and 'judge' at the same show? Im sure some will cry but its on different days... it may be but it is the same 'show' plus morally is this correct? Imho it is NOT. The rider of the smalls partner is a producer/show rider would it not have been better for the sake of perception for him to have ridden the horse? In these times where the morals and ethics of showing are very much under the spotlight I personally feel that this situation simply adds fuel to the fire of the sports critics. I understand that objections have been made by professional riders re. this class so it will be interesting to see how or if Grandstand Media react

Interesting how no one is actually mentioning names?
Showing will always be the same, there will always be cheating.
I think I can guess which pony you are referring to - I don't know what's gone on beforehand, but there probably is a strong possibility that it could win today, probably because it will be one of the best ponies in the class!

Not a case of not Naming names. It won the class the other day, I just don’t know it’s name without going to look and yes I’d assume it’s a very good example of the breed but it’s a class I don’t know or follow so names don’t trip off the tongue especially now my brain isn’t what it used to be and memory retention is approximately nil🙀🙀

It seems Grandstand Medua have disqualified the Small Hunter winner from the Supreme as riding & judging at the same show is not allowed!
