Anyone looking for a serious schoolmaster for a child coming off ponies onto horses won’t think so.
My 13.2 international jumping pony was sold for similar money at 18yrs old. And that was a lot lot lot of years ago.

Your probably right Philippa, he looks like he has been there done it and could be a real peach for someone coming off ponies wanting a horse to go further!

For all you know it could be fitter and in better health than a animal half it's age. In this day and age whereby vetinary practices have come on so much, similarly we have physios/chiropractors/feed specialists / dentists etc there's no reason why good horses that are that bit older can't be worth good money! It may be slightly different but my old 128 jumping pony who has won hoys and 2nd at olympia is kicking on now and they have people throwing blank cheque's at them.
I have a 20yr old who is still jumping hoys qualifiers - he is well looked after and not been over done- he is superb!
