After abit of advice please! I'm 19, and have a cat licence - but would like to look into getting my lorry licence.
Originally I had thought of maybe getting a 3.5t so I can drive that on my current licence, but I looked at a few quotes online and it was about £6000 for me to be on as a named driver!!
Would it be more worthwhile for me to get a hgv licence? I remember someone told me a while ago she managed to get a grant for her hgv training and test, and she was only a year or two older than me. But ultimately it will come down to how expensive the insurance will be for me to drive one.
Anyone have any advice for me? Or ways in which insuring me on a 3.5t wouldn't be so expensive?! Or good hgv courses (based Warwickshire )? Thanks all!!

6 grand seems a lot. Have you tried all horsey insurers such as NFU SEIB and KBIS? Give them a ring rather than online quotes.
In regards to lorry licence, you can get a C1 which would only allowed you to drive up to 7.5 tonne, there's a place in Scotland that do that licence ultra cheap and have great recipes and great pass rate, there's also you Cat C licence which would allowed you to drive rigid vehicles, that's about £1500-£1700 depending on where abouts in the country you are. You'll need to pass a medical and a theory test to get both those licences.
