Ridden Hacks / Cobs & Riding Horses Classes 101 – 109 Are Affiliated to the British Show Horse Association - Membership or Day Tickets Required from BSHA
These Classes held under the rules of the British Show Horse Association. Owners, Riders & Horses must be registered or have temporary membership with a Day Ticket. Horses registered with the Association must be Owned, Exhibited and Ridden by current BSHA Members. Riders must be 15 years of age or older. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry form.
DAY TICKETS
Non-Members may purchase up to a maximum of 2 Day Tickets per Exhibitor, per Horse, per Rider, per season. A Day Ticket will allow entry into Amateur, Home Produced, In-Hand, Novice, Working, Young Rider and Open Affiliated classes only, but will NOT allow entry into RIHS or HOYS qualifying classes. Horses registered on a Day Ticket do not require a JMB height certificate. Competitors can apply for a Day Ticket by downloading an application form from the BSHA website.
Horses competing in the Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain classes at their Affiliated Shows cannot compete in Hack, Cobs and Riding Horse classes at the same show, on the same day and vice versa. This does not apply to SHB (GB) Ridden Sport Horse classes.
All Hacks, Cobs, Maxi Cobs and Riding Horses that have been placed first, second, and third at any Affiliated Show in Open classes during the current year will qualify for the Classic Supreme classes at the British Show Horse Association National Championship Show in September. All affiliated Open Working Show Horse classes are qualifiers for the SEIB Working Show Horse of the Year Championship at the BSHA National Championship Show. Prize Money for the Championships will be: £200 to the winner; 2nd £100, 3rd £50, 4th £30, 5th £20.
The BSHA offer a Novice, Young Rider and Amateur rosette in each Open class and a Champion rosette for each section (with the exception of Open Working Show Horse, Ladies Show Horse & HOYS Hunter classes). The Association will also award an Amateur Home Produced rosette in all Affiliated Open Cob classes. The awards will go down the line; there is no limit on how many of these rosettes can be claimed in a year. These Rosettes have be Sponsored by TSG, Mr L Turley.
Amateur Owner Rider/Home Produced (Classes 103/ 104/ 106). Open to Horses, which are either stabled at home or in a
D. I. Y. yard and which since 1st January 2018 have not been shown by a Professional during the current season or stabled in a Professional yard at any time in 2017. To be ridden by an Amateur. This does not exclude Amateur Owner Home Produced riders having lessons at any time with an instructor, providing the Horse remains stabled at home. No Professional Producers are allowed into the ring to groom/strip the Horse.

Thoroughbred mare or gelding, 4years old or over, any height. Riders must be 15 years or over. Horses should be ridden in a snaffle, pelham or simple double bridle. Horses should be plaited. The first TWO go forward to the championship in 2019. All entries MUST be registered with the RoR and include their registration number on entry form and have RACED in GB. All those entering horses and/or participating in the show agree to be bound by the Retraining of Racehorses Rules and Regulations from time to time in force’ Please be aware that the show will split the class on the horse’s last run in a race (NH or Flat) or will provide 2 ride judges should the entries exceed 20. Please mark your entry form accordingly. Competitors must wear a safety/kite mark hard hat with a chinstrap.Racing injuries and blemishes will NOT be ignored in this seriesPrizes : Rosettes 1st - 6th and Vouchers 1st to 4th place. TGCA TOYS In Hand and Ridden Classes Show Number -These classes are qualifiers for the Best of Breed Finals at the Traditional Gypsy Cob Association's (TGCA) National Breed Championship Show “TOYS”. Classes are open to all traditional gypsy cobs. Top three in each class qualify. In open height classes, top three in small and large sections qualify. Stallions – All stallions (four years and over) in order to enter any TGCA affiliated class MUST have their TGCA stallion disc displayed on their bridle. Existing TGCA members must present their qualification card to the judge in the ring for signature. Non members will receive a qualification card from the judge and will have 21 days to join the TGCA and to register their horse to validate the qualification. 210 The Side Saddle Association EQUITATION CHAMPIONSHIPS OPEN QUALIFYING CLASS Run under SSA Rules defined in the current Member’s Handbook. Open to SSA Members and Non-Members. Members carrying their current Championship Points Cards are eligible for SSA rosettes to 3rd Adult and 3rd Junior places and SSA Championship Points. Southernden Farm offers a rosette to the highest placed Member aged under 14 on 1st January of the current year. Side Saddle International offer a rosette to the Adult Member and Manor Grange Stud Show Centre to the Junior Member, judged to be the best turned out. Competitors must wear a hat to current Safety Standard or above.
212 Side Saddle Association BEST HORSE OR PONY RIDDEN SIDE SADDLE Open to horses and ponies 4 years old or over: conformation & manners will be taken into consideration; horses/ponies will not be stripped. A Special rosette will be awarded to the highest placed Adult and Junior Members of the SSA carrying their current Championship Points Cards. Competitors must wear a hat to current Safety Standard or above. ** The Highest placed coloured exhibit (who has not already qualified) receives a Special Rosette and qualifies for the Side Saddle Final at the CHAPS Championship Show. Open to any type of exhibit. Riders must be 16 or over. Riders/Owners need not be a member or their exhibit registered with CHAPS at the time of qualification, but in order to compete at the Championships, the Rider/Owner must be a showing member and their horse/pony registered with CHAPS before entering the final.
213 Side Saddle Association Concours DElegance The sole criterion for this class is the elegance of the picture presented by horse and rider. Attention may be paid to the rider’s personal appearance but detailed inspection of rider or tack is not required. Fancy dress or period costume is not permitted. Competitors are required to walk, trot and canter. No individual show is required, but the Judge may ask groups of 3 or 4 riders to give short displays. A Special rosette will be awarded to the highest placed Adult Member and Junior Member of the SSA carrying their current Championship Points Cards. Competitors must wear a hat to current Safety Standard or above.

803 – Blue Chip Flat Ridden Sport Horse These classes are for 4 ,5,6 year old and over athletic horses that have the conformation and movement to go to the top of their sphere., All horses must exceed 148cm (14.2hh approx). Riders must have proof of horse’s age (ie: registration document, passport). All ages date from 1st January, Horses will be required to give a short individual show of walk, trot and canter, of approx 1 minute, to be awarded marks out of a possible 20 for each pace. Lengthened strides in trot and canter must be shown Marks for type and temperament will be awarded out of a possible 10 for type and 10 for tempermant. All horses are required for a conformation assessment to be awarded marks out of a possible 50. Shows must select Sport Horse Judges from the recommended Panel. All entries in Sport Horse classes must be on the Society’s Basic Identity Record or Stud Book.Snaffle bridles must be worn as per rules for British Eventing dressage. Bitless bridles and Wilkie snaffles are not allowed. Age should be taken into consideration. Martingales are not allowed but neck straps are permitted. Horses will enter the ring as a class and be seen in walk, trot and canter before being called in and asked to do an individual show. Vouchers 1st - £30 2nd - £6th £10 a Blue Chip Cap & Qualifying Rosette will be awarded to every competitor who qualifies, a Horse May Only Qualify once and if already qualified the qualification will pass down the line – The best 4,5 & 6 yo & Over, enabling 3 horses to qualify for the finals per qualifying class. This does not apply to Novice Working Hunter Classes. The Society designates certain Shows as qualifying shows for the RIHS at which horses may qualify for the RIHS in the current year or at specific shows for the following year. At these Shows the two highest placed horses in the Lightweight, Middleweight, Heavyweight, Small and Ladies (side saddle) Classes will qualify to enter at the RIHS. No horse lower than second will qualify. Judges must place all horses to
determine qualifiers.
807 – RIHS Small Hunters. Any mare or gelding, 4 years old or over exceeding 148 cm (14.2hh approx) but not exceeding 158 cm (15.2hh approx). A horse, which is registered as a Small Hunter, cannot compete in an Open Weight Class.
808 – RIHS Ridden Hunter ‘Lightweight’. Mare or gelding, 4 years old or over, capable of carrying up to 79.5kgs (12 stone 7lbs).

Class 901 SHB(GB) Novice Working Hunter - A mare, gelding or stallion (competing stallions must have a red, white andblue ribbon displayed in their tail) four years old and over not to have won a total of £100, excludingchampionship prize money, (or equivalent values) in prize money in any SHB(GB) affiliated WorkingHunter Class, or more than 5 BE points or 200 BS points, at home or equivalent abroad before 1st January in the relevant year. Fences in Novice Working Hunter classes should have a minimum height of 0.85m (2’9”) and a maximum height of 1.00m (3’3”). Working Hunters may compete ‘Hors Concours’ in Novice Working Hunter classes in the jumping phase only at the discretion of the show secretary but the horse cannot compete in any other Working Hunter classes for the duration of that show.

This competition is for Working Hunters, any weight, mares, geldings or stallion (competing stallions must have a red, white and blue ribbon displayed in their tail) four years old or over, exceeding 148cm, to be ridden. Any horse which has qualified as a Grade A Show Jumper or Advanced Event Horse as at 1st January in the current year is not eligible to compete in Working Hunter classes. All Riders, Owners and Producers must be Members of the British Show Horse Association. Horses must be registered with the British Show Horse Association.
Fences will not exceed 1.14m (3ft 9ins) in height, there should be a minimum of 8 fences and a maximum of 12 fences. The course must contain a combination and should contain a water tray. This class will be judged in two parts. Part One (Jumping) will be judged first, without a jump-off. All clear rounds and any other horses the judges may require will go forward to the next part. A rider can ride up to two horses in the jumping phase but then must select only one horse to take forward into the ride and conformation section if so required (no change of rider is allowed). Ridden Hacks / Cobs & Riding Horses Classes 101 – 109 Are Affiliated to the British Show Horse Association - Membership or Day Tickets Required from BSHA
These Classes held under the rules of the British Show Horse Association. Owners, Riders & Horses must be registered or have temporary membership with a Day Ticket. Horses registered with the Association must be Owned, Exhibited and Ridden by current BSHA Members. Riders must be 15 years of age or older. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry form.
DAY TICKETS
Non-Members may purchase up to a maximum of 2 Day Tickets per Exhibitor, per Horse, per Rider, per season. A Day Ticket will allow entry into Amateur, Home Produced, In-Hand, Novice, Working, Young Rider and Open Affiliated classes only, but will NOT allow entry into RIHS or HOYS qualifying classes. Horses registered on a Day Ticket do not require a JMB height certificate. Competitors can apply for a Day Ticket by downloading an application form from the BSHA website.
Horses competing in the Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain classes at their Affiliated Shows cannot compete in Hack, Cobs and Riding Horse classes at the same show, on the same day and vice versa. This does not apply to SHB (GB) Ridden Sport Horse classes.
All Hacks, Cobs, Maxi Cobs and Riding Horses that have been placed first, second, and third at any Affiliated Show in Open classes during the current year will qualify for the Classic Supreme classes at the British Show Horse Association National Championship Show in September. All affiliated Open Working Show Horse classes are qualifiers for the SEIB Working Show Horse of the Year Championship at the BSHA National Championship Show. Prize Money for the Championships will be: £200 to the winner; 2nd £100, 3rd £50, 4th £30, 5th £20.
The BSHA offer a Novice, Young Rider and Amateur rosette in each Open class and a Champion rosette for each section (with the exception of Open Working Show Horse, Ladies Show Horse & HOYS Hunter classes). The Association will also award an Amateur Home Produced rosette in all Affiliated Open Cob classes. The awards will go down the line; there is no limit on how many of these rosettes can be claimed in a year. These Rosettes have be Sponsored by TSG, Mr L Turley.
Amateur Owner Rider/Home Produced (Classes 103/ 104/ 106). Open to Horses, which are either stabled at home or in a
D. I. Y. yard and which since 1st January 2018 have not been shown by a Professional during the current season or stabled in a Professional yard at any time in 2017. To be ridden by an Amateur. This does not exclude Amateur Owner Home Produced riders having lessons at any time with an instructor, providing the Horse remains stabled at home. No Professional Producers are allowed into the ring to groom/strip the Horse.

The first TWO go forward to the championship in 2019. All entries MUST be registered with the RoR and include their registration number on entry form and have RACED in GB. All those entering horses and/or participating in the show agree to be bound by the Retraining of Racehorses Rules and Regulations from time to time in force’ Please be aware that the show will split the class on the horse’s last run in a race (NH or Flat) or will provide 2 ride judges should the entries exceed 20. TGCA TOYS In Hand and Ridden Classes Show Number -These classes are qualifiers for the Best of Breed Finals at the Traditional Gypsy Cob Association's (TGCA) National Breed Championship Show “TOYS”. Classes are open to all traditional gypsy cobs. Top three in each class qualify. In open height classes, top three in small and large sections qualify. Stallions – All stallions (four years and over) in order to enter any TGCA affiliated class MUST have their TGCA stallion disc displayed on their bridle. Existing TGCA members must present their qualification card to the judge in the ring for signature. Non members will receive a qualification card from the judge and will have 21 days to join the TGCA and to register their horse to validate the qualification. 213 Side Saddle Association Concours DElegance The sole criterion for this class is the elegance of the picture presented by horse and rider. Attention may be paid to the rider’s personal appearance but detailed inspection of rider or tack is not required. Fancy dress or period costume is not permitted. Competitors are required to walk, trot and canter. No individual show is required, but the Judge may ask groups of 3 or 4 riders to give short displays. 803 – Blue Chip Flat Ridden Sport Horse These classes are for 4 ,5,6 year old and over athletic horses that have the conformation and movement to go to the top of their sphere., All horses must exceed 148cm (14.2hh approx). Riders must have proof of horse’s age (ie: registration document, passport). All ages date from 1st January, Horses will be required to give a short individual show of walk, trot and canter, of approx 1 minute, to be awarded marks out of a possible 20 for each pace. Lengthened strides in trot and canter must be shown Marks for type and temperament will be awarded out of a possible 10 for type and 10 for tempermant. All horses are required for a conformation assessment to be awarded marks out of a possible 50. Shows must select Sport Horse Judges from the recommended Panel. All entries in Sport Horse classes must be on the Society’s Basic Identity Record or Stud Book.Snaffle bridles must be worn as per rules for British Eventing dressage. Bitless bridles and Wilkie snaffles are not allowed. Age should be taken into consideration. Martingales are not allowed but neck straps are permitted. Horses will enter the ring as a class and be seen in walk, trot and canter before being called in and asked to do an individual show. Vouchers 1st - £30 2nd - £6th £10 a Blue Chip Cap & Qualifying Rosette will be awarded to every competitor who qualifies, a Horse May Only Qualify once and if already qualified the qualification will pass down the line – The best 4,5 & 6 yo & Over, enabling 3 horses to qualify for the finals per qualifying class. 805 – SHGB Novice Ridden Hunters - Mare or gelding four years old and over, not having won a first prize of £60 or a total of £200 (or equivalent values) in prize money in any SHB(GB) affiliated Ridden Hunter Classes at home or abroad, before 1st January in the current year, excepting all prize money awarded as a four year old. This does not apply to Novice Working Hunter Classes. Any horse that qualifies for Horse of the Year Show in a Ridden Hunter Class (not including Working Hunter Classes) will not be eligible to compete in Novice classes from 1st January the following year, but horses that qualified for HOYS as a 4 year old are exempt. From Class 805 – Qualifiers for The Polly Coles 4 & 5 Year Old Ridden Hunter Championship – The top three horses from every SHB(GB) 4 year old ridden hunter class and the top three 4 or 5 year olds in any SHB(GB) Novice Ridden Hunter Class, held at shows prior to the 2018 Hunter Show will qualify. Qualification will not pass down the line. At the final to be held at the SHB(GB) National Hunter Supreme Championship Show the highest placed 4 & 5 year old will each receive £1000. At the Championship 4 & 5 year olds will be judged separately.
806 – The Derbyshire County Show Ridden Hunter Class – No Society Registrations Required Exceeding 15hh – NOT Ridden By The Judge, Individual Show Required – Class Winner Eligible for Supreme Ridden of Show

ROYAL INTERNATIONAL HORSE SHOW (“RIHS”)
The Society designates certain Shows as qualifying shows for the RIHS at which horses may qualify for the RIHS in the current year or at specific shows for the following year. At these Shows the two highest placed horses in the Lightweight, Middleweight, Heavyweight, Small and Ladies (side saddle) Classes will qualify to enter at the RIHS. No horse lower than second will qualify. Judges must place all horses to
determine qualifiers.
807 – RIHS Small Hunters. Any mare or gelding, 4 years old or over exceeding 148 cm (14.2hh approx) but not exceeding 158 cm (15.2hh approx). A horse, which is registered as a Small Hunter, cannot compete in an Open Weight Class.
808 – RIHS Ridden Hunter ‘Lightweight’. Mare or gelding, 4 years old or over, capable of carrying up to 79.5kgs (12 stone 7lbs).
809 – RIHS Ridden Hunter ‘Middleweight’. Mare or gelding, 4 years old or over, capable of carrying 79.5kgs (12stone 7lbs)

Class 901 SHB(GB) Novice Working Hunter - A mare, gelding or stallion (competing stallions must have a red, white andblue ribbon displayed in their tail) four years old and over not to have won a total of £100, excludingchampionship prize money, (or equivalent values) in prize money in any SHB(GB) affiliated WorkingHunter Class, or more than 5 BE points or 200 BS points, at home or equivalent abroad before 1st January in the relevant year. Fences in Novice Working Hunter classes should have a minimum height of 0.85m (2’9”) and a maximum height of 1.00m (3’3”). Working Hunters may compete ‘Hors Concours’ in Novice Working Hunter classes in the jumping phase only at the discretion of the show secretary but the horse cannot compete in any other Working Hunter classes for the duration of that show.

This competition is for Working Hunters, any weight, mares, geldings or stallion (competing stallions must have a red, white and blue ribbon displayed in their tail) four years old or over, exceeding 148cm, to be ridden. Any horse which has qualified as a Grade A Show Jumper or Advanced Event Horse as at 1st January in the current year is not eligible to compete in Working Hunter classes. All Riders, Owners and Producers must be Members of the British Show Horse Association. Horses must be registered with the British Show Horse Association.
Fences will not exceed 1.14m (3ft 9ins) in height, there should be a minimum of 8 fences and a maximum of 12 fences. The course must contain a combination and should contain a water tray. This class will be judged in two parts. Part One (Jumping) will be judged first, without a jump-off. All clear rounds and any other horses the judges may require will go forward to the next part. A rider can ride up to two horses in the jumping phase but then must select only one horse to take forward into the ride and conformation section if so required (no change of rider is allowed). In the event of equality the CONFORMATION MARK from Phase II will take precedence, followed by the RIDE MARK, and then the STYLE MARK.

Only One Section May Be Entered Per Horse as All Competitors are required to Parade as a Group In The Main Show Ring for Final Presentation of Awards. This Section Will Be Pre Judged in a Light Horse Ring But no Awards made until in the main arena.
Judged on the Overall appearance & elegance of the exhibit – Walk Trot Only – No Individual Performance, attention paid to detailing and finish of the outfit. Strapped Hats to be worn by all in this Section. May be Ridden Side Saddle or Astride. Pre Judged prior and then into final parade in the main arena as a whole for presentation of the 4 classes of placing followed by the championship, which will be selected by a Guest Judge.
PLEASE note you MUST be present in the main ring to be placed or you will be disqualified, Please Be aware that this section WILL be in the MAIN SHOW ARENA on the MAIN SHOW FIELD in front of general public. Please follow directions to the main arena from Light Horse Section Stewards at the correct time. D1 – The Derbyshire Agricultural & Horticultural Society Private Driving Class Mixed Heights Horse or pony, 4 years old or over, driven to a traditional or traditional type vehicle. A traditional vehicle means a vehicle of traditional profile and identifiable type to resemble the design of a carriage built prior to the First World War. The vehicle may be made from modern materials but must have traditional style springing and carriage lamps. Pneumatic tyred vehicles, trade turnouts and show wagons are not eligible
D2 – The Derbyshire Agricultural & Horticultural Society Pleasure Driving Class – Mixed Heights Open to horses & ponies, 4 years old or over,. A single, pair or tandem driven to a carriage Lamps need not be carried. Judging will include general cleanliness, safety of turnout, correct fitting of harness and vehicle suitability.
D3 – The Derbyshire Agricultural & Horticultural Society Light Trade Turnout Class – Mixed Height to horses and ponies, 4 years old or over, singles and pairs to a traditional or traditional type trade vehicle. No goods to be carried or displayed. A small sample load may be carried on a coster turnout only.
D4 – The Derbyshire Agricultural & Horticultural Society Exercise Vehicle Class – Mixed Height Open to horses & ponies, 4 years old or over,. A single, pair or tandem driven to a carriage of non-traditional type design and includes those with pneumatic tyres specifically designed for carriages (i.e. not car tyres). Lamps need not be carried. Judging will include general cleanliness, safety of turnout, correct fitting of harness and vehicle suitability.
D5 – The Derbyshire Agricultural & Horticultural Society Concours D Elegance Driving – Judged by a Guest Judge, On the Overall perception of the elegance and artistic interpretation of the exhibit. Open to All.
