Hi everyone,
I have been put in charge of organising a fun show to raise funds for an exciting venture that my university equestrian club will hopefully be doing this summer. Since we will by relying mostly on entries as the show's contribution towards these funds, I would be really interested to hear peoples' opinions on what would make them more likely to enter a show, and what would make them more likely to enter lots of classes. Also, it would be great if anyone who has previously run a similar events has any tips and advice on making it a success!
For those who compete in local shows:
What would make you want to enter a show? Prizes, big fancy rosettes/sashes, horsey 'celebrity' judges/prize givers, lots of classes that could be entered, deals on entering multiple classes, affiliation with societies such as Equifest, etc?
How do you find shows to enter? Schedules in local tack shops, web platforms such as Riding Diary, adverts on Facebook, anything else?
What sort of classes would you want to see? For example novelty showjumping (puissance, pairs, etc), adult gymkhana games?
For those who have run local shows:
What classes tend to get lots of entries, and what's not worth running? We're currently thinking of running showing classes, showjumping classes, and a gymkhana. Obviously we want as many entries as possible so don't want to bother running classes that no one will enter!
Anything else that would make a show successful?
Any other general tips and advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
