I know it's not a showing result but I just wanted to say a massive congratulations to Erin Denney and my beautiful Highland pony Kerrera Duke, who went up against all the fancy pants Warmbloods at the Regionals yesterday and finished 5th out of 19 with just short of 70%!!! The only Highland in the class, possibly the whole week of competition, what a lovely way to represent his breed with a beautifully ridden, accurate test and best of all his top mark out of the three judges, of over 70%, was from a List One judge, to say we are all thrilled is an under statement!! Very well done to both of them

Thank you so much everyone, I think Duke is now officially a Dressage Diva haha!!
My husband said it was like a dressage version of 'Racing Stripes' - minus the stripes LOL!!!

What a brilliant result .Well done to the whole team - don't you just love it when the Hairies show 'em what they're made of ! One of my most treasured possessions is a picture of myself and my Highland pony , Mistletoe of Combebank , being presented with our rosette ( also 5th place ! ) at the BD Area Festival Champs at Beaver Hall . I am laughing my head off in the photo but not , as you may suppose , because I am flanked on all sides by enormous warmbloods . No , the source of my amusement was Sir Lee Pearson who was presenting the prizes and who also appears in the photo . As he gave me my rosette he looked at my pony quizickly and asked " What made you choose a Highland for the job ?". I replied that the Highland had been purchased for other purposes and that we had only later discovered that he had a talent for dressage . " Well , well done you " he replied " He's a lovely pony " and then added with a grin " I believe they're popular with the RDA but I've never ridden one myself - don't really think he'd be my cup of tea ". Moments to treasure .

Thank you to everyone for your wonderful comments, it really was a treasured moment and Erin worked so hard to achieve it for months on end beforehand.
I haven't been on HG for such a long time and have just logged on and discovered to my horror, that there were so many messages that I'd not responded to simply because I hadn't seen them, so my apologies to everyone who was kind enough to support us and post such lovely comments, they do mean a lot to me, thank you so very much.
Flee, I totally got the picture when you mentioned being flanked by huge warmbloods, that was Duke and Erin too, I can well imagine the lovely Lee Pearson making his comment to you, he is a remarkable man and has a very wicked sense of humour.

Well done on your result - and for waving the flag for natives in aff dressage. Why on earth shouldn't they? For many "normal" riders, ie most of us, a native is a really good choice to do anything we might want to do.
