did anyone watch the waxwing open fr on sat afternoon judged by mrs moss ,any comments on this judge wld be appreciated as my daughter was in the class on a 12.2 dun sec b i think there were about 17 in class wth top 10 going into eve ,we didnt get through aeven though did perfect show as i was told by lots of people even complete strangers including a judge and a producer said we had won the class ,several others who did lovely shows didnt get through but ponies who ran off wth there little jockeys ,wrong legged it several times and even reared up in the line ,and just had no manners were through to the top 10 ,it was all very strange . and after watching the final placings in the evening i was left totally bemused as to what class mrs moss had been watching ,but i was later told that apparantly mrs moss does not beleive sec b s should be in fr and i had noticed that the top9 ponies were sec a s a darty and a shety wth the only sec b that did a beautiful show standing in 10th place , surely if a sec b can enter the class it shld be judged on performance
any comments !!!!

As organiser of the Elite Riders Display I would also like to congratulate Emily on a wonderful performance on Saturday night. To step in at the last minute and to ride with such confidence was a real credit to her and at such a young age. Her ability to remember all the moves and to keep up with the bigger horses on such a small pony was no mean feat. Riders should certainly look out for her in the future.
Well done to all the riders that took part. I will be writing to you but in the meantime many thanks for putting on such a polished display.

I was at ponies UK and watched the open first ridden class and, in my opinion I didn’t think the judge did a bad job. In first ridden classes judges look for well-mannered ponies which go quietly and freely forward, suitable for youngsters to ride. Some of the ponies in the class looked a little hot and looked like they were going to take off and others did spook but the ponies that won, went round like first ridden ponies. Remember first ridden is a way of going & yes personal preference does come into it, at the end of the day its a showing class & did the judge see the ponies in the line up messing, as I didnt.

hi cotton , i totally agree wth you that first ridden ponies shld be well mannered and freely going fwd which i myself and several other peoples opinion my dun pony did ,she did not shy as several of the top ten ponies did and definately did not rush or look like she was going to run off at any point ,it just really seems a shame when you put so much time and effort into preparing for a show then the judge doesnt thnk yr pony breed ie sec b shld be in the class and therefore you do not do very well . and as you say i suppose that is just showing !!!
