I am doing my first ever vhs veteran Q in a couple of weeks and am beyonder nervous. I know you walk and trot round together but do you all canter together? Is there a special show that you have to do for the judge and what will they be looking for.Do I ride in a snaffle or double. So sorry for all the questions but I have never ever done showing and my boy is 19 and have heard such nice things about the veteran classes. Any tips would be so welcome.I have always hunted and hacked my boy but like me we are feeling our age. Thank so much for any advise

Have you checked the info and rules on the SSADL website? This way, you can be sure of accurate information rather than relying on possible hearsay here on HG. I believe that yes, you do have to canter altogether, yes the judge will require a set show and yes, you can ride in a snaffle or a double bridle (no Swales or severe bits) but there are lots of rules and regs you need to read on seniorshowinganddressage.co.uk/ and, if you are still unsure, give SSADL a ring
Good luck!

Bigmama OP states VHS qualifier so would be better to check VHS website LOL! Bigmama had been out for a long lunch with the girls yesterday Janet , which could well account for the uncharacteristic lapse of concentration ! LOL !

Edited to add I had a long picnic lunch with Simon & my grandson Alexander at Harewood House - plenty of finger food but no alcohol involved!

Oh gawd! Sorry guys. I cannot blame the alchohol at lunchtime cos I didn't drink any .. I misread the OP but, upon reflection, I still thought the VHS had evolved into the SSADL . what do I know?! Lol. All this goes to show that it is imperative for people to aim their showing questions directly at the showing society involved otherwise numpties like me could be giving out duff information

(SSADL is the one which qualifies for Olympia, but both have their own championship show)
