I have only ever competed at a local riding club level with my pony but it has been a dream of mine to have a go at County Level showing. The only problem is my pony has a splint - will this go against us ie is it even worth me having a go?
I would really appreciate your honesty, thank you.

There are plenty of County level show horses with lumps and bumps. A splint isn't ideal, but the final placings will depend on many other things too. Why not go to a couple of showing clinics first and get an honest opinion from a professional. Good luck xx

You seem to have been shot down in flames for asking a simple question, something that this forum is supposedly for, so I will try to give you a helpful reply.
It will depend on how noticeable/prominent the split is. Fell ponies tend to have quite a bit of feather, and under most major showing rules the judges can’t touch the ponies. This means that if it can be disguised or you can’t see it under the feather then, if they can’t see a splint, they can’t possibly mark you down for it!

I see no "shooting down in flames" here, only an attempt to be helpful. Without being able to see the splint in question, only a general answer is possible, and judges vary too in their scales of tolerance of different faults.

There are many ways to disguise a splint depending on size and where it is.

How do you hide a splint, please? I'd be grateful for any of your tips. Many thanks,
