Afternoon,

It is great to read all the well wishers for those competing this week at HOYS , but i would like to have a round of applause for all the backroom staff i.e The Stewards, so big hugs from me and thank you for giving up your time to steward all day , and a thank you as well for all the shows stewards everywhere have stood in Rain , Sunshine, with sometimes a bottle of water and a cheese roll , THANK YOU !!!

Yep I agree. Some lovely stewards and it DOES make a difference.

Well said, Haggis. Stewards and "back-room boys" (and 'girls'!) are literally the backbone of shows.
So often taken for granted at best, unappreciated by many. I say 'boys' and 'girls' tongue in cheek, as the concerning fact is that there are few young people coming through to replace those of a certain age.

I wasn't alone in being shocked, appalled, to see a post on social media last week by someone stating and I quote . . . . "time to get rid of the old brigade".

It is my view that EVERY ADULT who competes (and judges) should put something back - by volunteering to steward. Full days, not just a few hours in chosen classes.
