I had a pm from "myself" wondering if I would post the fact that she successfully predicted the champion and res in the Show Pony and champion in the Show Hunter Pony sections. The answer is that yes I will post that she was successful I would add the very important fact that several observers who are not remotely connected to any of the showing fraternity, but who were there as sponsors (not the main show sponsor) watched the classes from the bank, away from the gossiping - and selected them too!So I would say to "myself" well done - you predicted correctly

LR SHP winner was Lochar Red Buttons - after a run of four seconds and having qualified HOYS first! Second was Sarah Davies and Sian Snuff, can't remember third, Julie Temp fourth with Little Briars April Louise I think. We had to negotiate a rather bizarre course including two black plastic pipes, a metal beer keg, two plastic pheasants and a plastic rabbit!! Buttons was Champion SHP at NPS 14 on Sunday in the open class - well done Charlie Boy!!! You're getting there!

Big well done to Ginny and Brungrange Toby, even if you did have a little tear, really well deserved and beautifully ridden.

Had you judged HOYS and your Champion there had gone by far the best at Area 7 [the only thing that spoilt it was that it was blatantly ridden in for ages by Martin whose an adult for its jockey] you'd have to be totally barmey to have had it anything but the winner unless there was an amazing new pony forward in your classes. Let's face it hardly any of the show ponies in any of the classes were foot perfect. A constructive suggestion to Area 7 would be not to invite this year's HOYS judges next year. You might then catch these silly clairvoyants out ;D Thanks to Area 7 for another well run show.

There was one clear in the 133 and one in the IWH - that was it so that kinda tells a bit of a tale!

I'm afraid your information is a little inaccurate, but it was (and always has been) one of the tougher qualifiers - It was very fair though with errors spread all around the course - which is a very good sign - there was not just one bogey fence! There were 3 water trays but if you have water tray issue then there is no point going to Hickstead at all. There were also Novice and Open workers round a different course for those that had problems to finish the day on a good note

KEEP SMILING - Guess you had the smile wiped off your face!!!
So what if a winner was in tears, just because someone has their pony produced it doesn't give then automatic qualification or that they don't work hard either with their pony or in the chosen career.
Maybe you should give showing a miss if you can't loose with any grace!!

Chomp, I agree entirely, both the Champ and Res in the Show Pony classes and the Champion SHP were in a class of their own, from a spectators point of view. In fact, if they had not come up with that result, I expect the judges would have been slated from the other angle
I can assure you that Area 7 will certainly not appoint judges for next year that judge HOYS this year (and hopefully the previous couple of years)
Any suggestions for judges that would pull a crowd?

If you thought i had made this comment then why not just come out & say so, don't hide behind some pun using my daughters name. I most certainly will not be giving showing a miss, despite the fact that i wouldn't miss trouble makers like you. For the record i have just walked in from a lovely family day out, which certainly helps you to focus on whats really important in life. Congratulations to ALL the winners yesterday, a long but successful day

Congratulations to the Springbourne Caberet team. A fantastic and very timely achievement for his breeders. Our thoughts are with them at this sad time.
As for crying when you qualify for HOYS what's the problem? It takes some a long time to get there and when it happens the adrenolin rush can be too much. Doesn't matter if you do it yourself or have professional help. it's a magical personal moment. The more who get to experience it the better it is for showing.

Ally edwards not sure what you are getting at - why did you think that comment was aimed at you? Or perhaps the original post has been edited. Not trying to stir - just intrigued! I have to say that this is one of the most ridiculous sentences I have ever read on horsegossip: "Couldn't help smiling as one m&m winner came out of the class crying as if totally shocked to win! if i paid a producer i would hope i was in for a shot everytime out!"Are you insane?? So because somebody pays for someone to have their pony produced, that makes them void of emotion?? And it somehow devalues how amazing it is to qualify for RIHS?? I'm actually a bit lost for words - which is rare for me!

We had a lovely time at area 7 on Saturday. Really well run show.
Had time to watch the 148 cm class and Rhos Emblem went beautifully and looked every bit the Champion don't think any judge would have had it in any other position.

You are a sad, dumb lot! Thank you Chomp for thinking that 'Frankie' was the best pony there on the day. Yes ONE of the judges had him champion at HOYS but there were 2 judges there on sat and he still had to go well enough! Both judges gave him the top marks in the class. I do have to correct you on one thing though - Martin worked Frankie in for about 20 mins before Becca got on board. He is probably one of the few top show ponies out there who really doesnt need a ton of work - in fact with such a big ring on sat we were worried that Becca wouldnt be able to get him round without falling out of canter!!!!

Totally agree yes the judge did have the 14.2 champion at HOYS but at the end of the day they still have to go well to win on the day. There was two judges so it wasnt just one opinion and he went lovely. I saw the pony being worked in and the man was not on it for long at all and it behaved imppecably in the ring! The jockey was also riding the 12.2 in the ring so he was probably just warming him up while she was in the ring. Chinnok Morning light also went lovely it was deffinatley a toss up between the two and they both deserved champion and reserve.
Congratulations to you both i say !!!
I can see a few Green eyed monster are appearing!
