Right, next year I intend to show my PBA under saddle properly (rather than the occasional pottering about in equitation and riding club show pony classes i have done up to now) The aim is to have her going correctly in a double, up to now she has only ever been ridden in a snaffle. She is 6 btw. I have decided on a double rather than a pelham then I can introduce the curb action more gradually. Now I am going to use a loose ring french link mouthpiece for the bradoon (this is the type of snaffle I ride her in) but I don't have a clue which weymouth to try first. Any suggestions

i use a french link pelham as the ponies are used to a french link snaffle and they don't find it such a big change as you are not putting any more metal in their mouths

I would stay clear of a double way too much in their mouths would go to a pelham first you can always leave curb off to start with or buy the little leather one much less hard.
In fact our hack still doesnt wear a curb chain we just took the hooks off!

i'd use a pelham to start with then when she's a bit older gradually introduce the double.

I agree, I would go for a pelham as its a big change for them having 2 bits in their mouth. it might just blow their head a bit.

We use a Rugby pelham so it looks like they have got a double bit in.
