Very sadly Fudge (Oakstead Banoffee) died early Friday morning at Leahurst from a suspected twisted gut. He was only five years old and due to compete at Hoy's next week. He was loved and admired by many, a little superstar with a big heart and he will be very sadly missed. Our thoughts and sympathy are with his owner a wonderful person who didn't deserve this tragedy and all the people who tried so hard to save him. R.I.P little Fudge xx

Hi, I am the owner (mum) of Fudge, thank you rainbowsunny for your lovely words about him, and for all the txts and e-mails I have been sent. He was a little pony with big cheeky personality from the day he was born, I am devasted and shocked at what has happened to him, he really didn't deserve it, hopefully the post mortam will give us some answers. I would also like to thank his produces Julie and Rachel Helliwell for breaking and showing him for us and qual him for hoys , you did a great job with him, last Tues at a hoys practice night he looked and went fab. I would also like to say a big thankyou to Rachel, Julie and Jess for everything you did for him on Thurs/Fri, and hope everyone at team Helliwell have a good hoys esp little Harriett (Fudges jockey) with Ellie and Fluff. Finally to Fudge, I was so proud to of bred you and will miss you lots. RIP
Caroline

My great friends have lost their beloved home bred pony, suddenly, and unexpectedly-he was only 5yrs old. There is never a good time to lose your pony but a week before HOYS where he was due to compete is really hard to bear. Caroline and Margaret,my Daughter and I were so looking forward to seeing him there as were all his connections. His little jockey Harriet will need a lot of consolation. It puts into perspective the complaints about over height ponies measuring out and not being able to compete at HOYS .R I P little Fudge

margaret / caroline - i'm so so sorry for your loss, i never knew him but he looked a beautiful pony. i don't know why life is so cruel to take such young and beautiful animals - lulu was just 4. i just hope they're together. Be strong - i know its so so hard, but be proud as i was that you had the time together that you did so well and that you have all your memories. xx thinking of you. xx
