We have battened down the hatches ready for these storms and so far nothing, watery sunshine and the odd shower apart for that it is quiet pleasant, still the sun always shines on the righteous

Its our village bonfire party tonight and we have spent the morning attaching a marquee to the front of the barn in the middle of a field in torrential rain and virtually gale force winds!!! 1 marquee took off, got ripped and bent the framework!!! I can honestly say I have never been so cold in my life and I still havent thawed out yet. Nasty Dartmoor weather

Well survived the party on Southsea Sea Front , just! Waves crashing over the car as we drove along the road. As we came out of the Aquarium, they closed the road as it was unsafe. Then got home to find the kids trampoline had jumped the fence and the horse that was living out in the field it went into,. got scared and jumped 6 foot hedge back into the other field. Didnt quite jump high enough thou as vet has now been out to staple up the cut on its hind leg!!!!

Well I can't believe it but we must be very righteous here. It's been quite sunny with the odd light shower and breezy! Normally we suffer terribly with the wind(oops pardon!) all the trees grow a t 45 degrees to the ground but today it;s been quite passably pleasant.(Famous last words maybe!) Forecast was crap but it never happened!

Oooh dazycutter and highhill - I am sorry you have had it rough havnt you!
I did get the boys out to their training yesterday, creeping along in the lorry, down the back lanes that are not exposed. Quite a few trees down, but the wind had dropped by the time we set off.
I am just off to feed brekky to my lot, but am going out late - as run out of hay - our delivery couldnt get here, cos of the bad weather, so only have 2 bales left - which according to them - are poisonous bales - even though they smell delicous the same as the rest?
Will have to give the lots of chaff in their brekky and hope 10 am comes around soon, so I can run to the saddlers for haylage!
They could of course eat the hay they say in NO GOOD - but these are very spoilt mares, so I reckon they will just sulk and look at me in disgust!

well horse is all stapled up by the slowest vet in the world! Took soooo long he had to give him 3 lots od dope! Insisted on tapping his joint and running it through the lab in case joint infected. Highly unlikely I would of thought as completely sound 5 hours after he did it and if his joint was infected he wouldnt have been able to put his foot to the floor by then! But he's not our horse and the vet knew he was insured so he just wanted to be sure!!!
Lovepink - do you buy the all green bales of haylage from Shedfield. They come from us so if you need some before 10 - you are welcome to come up for some !!!

Well the sun is shining now but what a difference 2 days can make, yesterday cold bleak and wet and WINDY in the extreme, fields are flooded and horses all looking fed up, stables still standing .....just!!!, water came down the hill like a ruddy river and has flooded the stables and barns, but no tree's came over the fence, plenty have come down in the woods though and on my way back up through the woods could see flashing blue lights, was Police as tree had come down but had fallen across the road and was resting in another tree, had to drive under it, as instructed by PC Plod, I even ducked hahahhahhaa, when came back down half hour later it was all cut up and gone, who says you can't get things done quickly, but I do believe we have more to come!!!!!

Who was the vet Highhill? Only asking as Liz Watsons lovely big white horse "JAKE" was PTS on thursday, due to an infection in his joint. I am very upset, cos I loved that boy!
The lameness for this didnt come on immediately, it came on about 2 weeks after.....
Maybe the vet was right to show caution afterall?
What is they haylage you sell ? Is it low energy?

The lake in my field had started to go down, but it's been raining non stop all morning in Manchester, so probably at home too. Cerys got to ride both days at the weekend, but only a short time yesterday as it was cold, wet and miserable.

We are also in cumbria. The wind and rain is horrible! I was in a hurricane in america once, and its not far off as bad as that was!! My fields are still flooded. I can deal with the rain, but the wind! I have never seen anything like it! To make it all worse, i have supposed to be moving ponies for the past 2 days and i just cant risk taking the trailer out in this. Poor ponies. I hope its better tomorrow

The wind in Hampshire kept me and the kids up all night, thinking we were going to be blown away.
It must have been 10 times worse for you in Cumbria.......Its got to improve soon surely!
