Has anyone else had their room cancelled at the Hilton hotel on the sunday night. They are moving us to another hotel 20 mins away!! That means we have to walk with our tack etc for miles!! It has been booked for ages and they only told me yesterday!! I am very cross!!

I heard there had been some rooms cancelled we have two booked for Sunday night but have not heard anything yet , will be very cross if they are cancelled as they were booked in June and like you don't want to be carrying ponies tack etc across London. However really looking forward to it now ,seems very near and we are taking the ponies for a last outing tomorrow if all goes well.

I work in the hotel industry and your room would have been cancelled becasue all big hotels have an overbooking policy and they have got a bit carried away and are so overbooked they are having to fix the problem now.
The reason your room will have been cancelled is that you probably booked direct (so have no travel agent to shout on your behalf) and have no contractual agreement with them. Basically you are a soft touch. MAKE A MASSIVE FUSS, speak to the revenue manager of you can, and/or general manger and make it an easier option for them to find someone else to book out.
At the very least get them to to agree to pick up the bill for your increased transport costs ie taxi to and from Olympia as this is the mimimum they have to provide to guests booked out from travel agents.

When you booked in June it was possibly a good rate, but now the rate per room has gone up so they can get more money for the room, it happed to my husband this week in a hotel in Cheltenham.
If you have confirmation of the booking they will have to Honor your booking.

I would kick up a huge fuss regardless of whether I was competing or not. At the very least, I would expect them to pay for any taxis required as a result of their incompetence....if they won't play ball then a letter to h&h would be high on my list so others are made aware of the risk of losing their room in future.
