D Bartram judged the HOYS coloured classes at the BSPS winter champs this year as a last minute standby judge.

D Bartram likes a mannerly ride but something that goes forward. He is keen on correctness of type, and they must have good conformation. Very fair judge in my opinion.

Just wondered what Mr N Cathers likes in W.H.P,Part Bread Welsh and Coloured. This gentleman has the Mountcauldfield Stud of British Riding Ponies, if that helps. I would imagine that, like any serious Breeder, he would go for a type of some sort, frame and movement. First and foremost he is a RP/TB person.

Mr B certainly likes typey, correct, old fashioned types. Wouldn't go for flashy or light of bone ponies. i agree!

OK, lets turn this around then. I know a lot of you are show secretaries too and we are in the process of chosing next year's judges at both winter and summer shows. In the past, and quite inadvertantly, we have obviously picked some judges that do not draw crowds, if you know what I mean. So, advise please. We need judges in the following categories that will drawn big entries
SHP (RI, HOYS and Open) WHP (RI and Open) M&M Ridden (RI) SP & Int (RI and Open) M&M WHP (RI) (NPS & BSPS)
You suggestions please

WHP - plaited: Mrs Gooch. I've never met her, but have noticed that whenever she is judging she has a really good line up with no raised eyebrows in the parents' holding area! Quite a feat!

Have asked around and am being told:
M&M workers: Mrs Etheridge (jumping) Mrs Woods (con) Mrs Haddow, Mrs Spears, Mr Perkins, Ms Ashby-Jones
Plaited workers: Mr Hilton, Mr Perkins, Ms Ashby Jones, Mrs Whitely
SHP Mrs Whitely
M&M ridden - Mr Sharpley always seems to have hundreds in front of him, so people must like him
Hope these help - not all our classes but what mates are telling me

Thank you Artistic. I can report back that so far we have booked Mr Hilton and Mr Perkins. Mr Sharpley often judges various classes at our show and will do so again next year - though the actual class has not been decided as yet. Debbie Spears likes to exhibit at our shows and so cannot judge. Mrs Woods judged in 2008 as did Mrs Whiteley. Our show usually clashes with Leicester County and Mrs Ashby Jones has said on several occasions that she cannot accept because of this. I will try Mrs Haddow and Mrs Etheridge. Any other suggestions gratefully received.

Anyone heard of Miss S Chetcuti - judging M&Ms Anyone know this lady please? All I can say is never again.....unless you think it's appropriate to place a Fell in a small breeds class! There were other obvious issues, but that was AFAIK the rule breaker. So she's one of the very few who go in my "never again" category

For m&m qualifiers it might be nice to see some new judges do some qualifiers. I know there are limited judges on the list with stars but wld be nice to see some new faces.
