grrrr im fuming, iv got a halifax account but i dont really use it, nothing gets paid into it but iv got a £100 over draft which i get charged about £2 a month for which is fine so i usually just transfer £5 a month in. Anyway when i checked my balance online they have given me a charge for £26 but i havent gone over my over draft so i called them an they said they have charged me £1 for every day i was in my over draft and in decemeber i was in it for 26 days. So that means each month im going to be charged about £30 a month, for a £100 over draft, what an absolute joke!!!!

Well avoid Lloyds tsb like the plauge. I went 0.08p overdrawn last year. They sent me a letter saying they were going to charge me £75 for it.
They did stop the charge in the end but i stopped my wages going in and moved my direct debits to another account. It was only after i did that they changed their mind !!(think they knew they wern't going to get a penny off me !!!

We recently moved form Barclays to Halifax because of thier extortionate charges. (I still reckon that it was thier charges that have put us in such financial difficuilties but still) At the end of the day these banks/building societies are all the same. It is a business and they just want thier money, they have no compassion at all.

Try Nationwide, they charge interest on the amount you are overdrawn, for the number of days you are overdrawn, and it's a lower rate if it's an agreed overdraft. Have only ever paid a few pence in charges.

The banks make money, purely by having our wages every month to play around with, and if you shop around there are financial institutions who can still make a healthy profit without making extortionate bank charges, so vote with your feet and use one of them! Any bank that stings people with ridiculous charges just because they can are ripping you off.

Be careful of the Nationwide they have only call centres based in Sheffield and are very bad at passing on messages. I never go into town but had to 4 times last year just to the Nationwide to sort out an account I was appointtee of . A B***** nightmare.

Mayhen anyone lending money should charge for it thats not the issue, not that it is an issue, its the fact they have added to their charges, so I am not complaining about the fact that they have to charge, what they have done is in addition to the interest payment they have recently added a set fee, I was in mine for a short time and got my usual interest charge plus te extra, which when you have the facility of an overdraft this was set that you only were charged the interest so it quite a large jump in charges for those using it when needed

I worked for Bank of Scotland that turned into HBOS then to Lloyds
they are far from a charity and don't they know it, knowing how much employee time it takes to administer an over drawn account, bounce cheques, direct debits, standing orders etc etc I feel its criminal the amount they charge in charges!!!
I also believe its criminal when someone goes overdrawn by the smallest of amounts that they charge a whopping amount of money compaired to amount overdrawn!!!
I also feel so much has changed in banking now, there used to be a time where they actually managed your accounts, a customer would phone up to say that they will be over drawn and the manager would discuss this and sort out the problem, now they just get finger clicking happy and automatically pile on the charges, I also know that they have no sympathy for anyone in debt, however look what the banks expected when they all ended up loosing so much money
Banks and those that are stupidly paid by them to 'manage' them care only of themselves and not the actual people or businesses that are feeding them with the cash that they go and play with (and play with badly!)
there should be give and take
can you tell I really really hate them and thank god I no longer work for one

My daughter (a student )was over drawn by accident because she keeps very little in her current account and drip feeds from her savings, so she was charged, when she came home she explained what had happened, we both went into our bank they apologized and repaid it. That seems very fair to me.
