Is it all really worth posting on horse gossip with the limited interest shown in threads that "aren't threads written by what seems to be part of the gang".. I find it absolutely incredible that responses are so few well actually 1 response... and in an others case 0 responses..or has this got to do with us being Welsh Pony people and horse gossip demonstrates little interest in that arena..

Well personally, I don't respond to threads just to be polite. I will add my two pennorth if it's something valid to the subject, or if I have an opinion, or if I feel I have something to contribute to the discussion. Otherwise, though I may read with interest, I don't post just for the sake of it. I think you need to look at the number of views on a thread, if people are reading it then they are obviously interested, although they may not feel the need to post a reply.
As regards the 'part of the gang' comment, yes we do have regulars who like to chat, which is why there's a thread set aside for that, so that threads about specific subjects can stay on topic, and everyone's happy - well nearly everyone anyway!!!!

Got to admit, if something isn't in the 'last 30 posts', then I'm never going to see it - it's the only thing I ever look at!!

Perhaps us Welsh pony people should make a bit more of an effort to read and possibly reply to a few more posts, and not read the same areas ,but check the new posts on the whole forum?

I read load and loads of threads, but only comment, if I feel I am experienced in the subject. I dont like to think I am a No it all on everything - cos I am not. Doesnt mean I havnt enjoyed or been intersted in the thread.... I posted one last week hoping for help with double bits, but only got aboout 3 responses. I think its such a technical subject, folks dont want to say the wrong think If you posted something - like why are judges all bla bla bla- you would get a million responses, but a normal everyday thought, will only get minimal response

i too only post if i feel experienced enough to do so or have relevent knowledge in that area. I always search through all threads as wouldnt like to be ignoring someone who really needs help. You do get the regulars which only post on certain threads, but you get that on all forums. If you have a thread that needs looking at quickly, why not post something in the snug or friendly chat area and ask people to have a look?? That should do the trick!

Slightly off topic, but just to mention if anyone has anything urgent that they need people to see we can always put you a banner across the top of the home page - useful for things like missing/stolen ponies, show cancellations etc.
Just PM a mod and we'll get your info up there as quick as we can.

I don't think there are any 'gangs' on horse gossip. There are a group of people who go on the friendly chat type threads but everyone is welcome on there. Why don't you try it?
I try to respond to as many threads as possible. The chat/opinion ones are easy, it is just your own opinion. However, when it comes down to factual things that I know nothing about, like breeding or studs, then I simply can't respond.
You are getting responses to this thread as it is a sort of general opinion so we can all have one of those.
Do come into friendly chat.

Not being rude at all giddie, just wondering why your are not getting the responses you would like and when you asked 'the question' in the first place. The reason I haven't responded before are all your posts I can see looking quickly are related to a web site (which I haven't got time to look at all the websites put on here) and to welsh ponies.
We are not all just interested in welsh ponies, but that doesn't mean we are a gang, so I think you might want to go onto the more general threads where I am sure you will get a much better response as you have on here.

I'm a Welsh breeder, but don't feel there is little for me one here, and I can't say I'd noticed any sort of gang. Lots of stuff is common to any breed or activity, and there are more specialist fora for individual breeds if that is what you prefer, and the results threads include Welsh as well as the rest.
I admit I don't follow all threads, and don't chat much for the sake of it but do try to help out in areas I know something about or have had experience of. If I have nothing to contribute I don't!

Well thank you all for your responses but where's all this technical stuff (about being experienced enough to respond )has come from is beyond me.. It was just an opinion asked for..
I fully appreciate of course that not everyone looks at this section (at the time 100+ hits no responses) and can see the logic that if it is not in the last 30 posts it will get missed..
As for the suggestion that every post l put up is related to the website..Wrong, but l accept that you only had a quick look !!
Anyhow l am not going to dwindle on about it because as l said from the start it was just an observation and not a complaint. I will now go and have a look in friendly chat !!!
