dont worry p22 just remember start as you mean togo on , dont be offering to run people around in your trailer or they will expect it all the time and when its not convieniet to you they will take umbridge and it will cause bad feeling ,there is a very fine line between being friendly and being a friend ! remember this is a buisness arrangement you wouldnt expect your doctor to pick your little girl up from school or your solicitor to do your ironing !!

Ha love the thought of the solicitor doing the ironing - don't have a solicitor as such but would get one if he'd do that!

Thanks for karmas chaps and ladies. Oh she certainly got told what to do re deposit. Not my fault her buying a pony has lead to a domestic. She was very stupid to think, she could try it on. Perhaps she will think twice about doing it again. Oh Brindlerainbow, I have passed on your number to a local show. Fingers crossed they get in touch with you. Thank you Hunter

Oooo quite a few others had bad days today. My day wasn't good. It started with picking up the hair spray rather than the deoderant and was in such a hurry was on my second arm before realising what I was doing. I later had insane conversation that had my OH nearly having me committed ..I was happily mucking out, OH doing haynets and suddenly this thougt came into my head which caused me to down tools and rush out the stable like my pants were on fire.. it went like this. me " awee what time do you think it is" OH " duno, about 11 ish" me " ah but its not, because its Bolton show today" OH "is it, why havent we gone" me " I dont know, but its dinner time" OH "why .. are you hungry" me "no but its dinner time because its the 28th today" Poor OH stared at me like my wheels had fell off. For some reason I had lost a month as thought it was 28th of March!!!

Dawnie, dont worry about it. I often have the most bizarre conversations with OH. usually after a glass of wine, but if you were mucking out it was probably just a reduction in your blood sugars that made you go a bit funny. And remember, as long as just 1 wheel comes off you will be fine. After all, a wheel barrow can cope with just 3 wheels, so dont worry.
PS22, dont worry hun, it will get better for you soon. My friend has a small livery yard, and varies between having waiting lists for people to come on, and it being just me and her looking at each other with empty stables all around. And like we say when its empty and she needs clients, well at least there will be plenty of grazing for our lot, and if worst comes to worst they will have to winter out! You will find people will come, and people will go. Set your rules now and unless there is some genuine reason to change them, such as a poorly horse or something then dont. They are your rules, its your yard and that is that.
You will find that the clients that come on that are 'professional, very knowledgleble with the best horses and highly paid jobs are' are the worst ones to have. They often are a nightmare to deal with as they think everyone is beholden to them, and they will want there horses to take top priority over everyone elses, then sell up or move owing you money. My old YM told me (she has a huuuugggggeeee livery yard, 40+ at a time) that the best clients are your normal working class ones, who make sacrifices to keep there horses. They are the ones that always pay on time, and are honest and genuine, and because there horses are there luxury, they value them more. These were the people that she called her 'bread and butter' clients, and she always said she would rather have a yard half full with people like that, than full with the other sort as they are all a nightmare.
Stick with it, you will get there. And if OH moans, just remind him that you moved to get away from all the grief, and picking liveries is like picking someone to share your house with. amd sending you a cheer up karma!

AMWAP... wash your mouth out... PMSL I fit that category (perhaps not the best horses bit though :-) ) when I put one of mine on a full livery so they can be worked in the winter...but am not in the least a nightmare client. I pay by standing order, help at the weekend and leave them too it... I dont think you can tar everyone with the same brush.... my other mate is a doctor and she is a lovely client... always thankful and appreciates everything that is being done... LOL there are good and bad in all sorts.... PSS2... if you were nearer I would come to you.. XXX

I think S&O is talking about my bum and yes she is right!
I need the extra padding to keep young Lilly weighted down! Dread to think what she would be like with a little jockey on board........ LOL
Today - she is in full blown season and is in the menage cuddling up to little Mini, who has come into season, in sympathy with her. They are neck to neck grooming and very happy!

Sorry Dazy, didnt mean to insult, but you know the sort of person I mean. Those with more money than sense, all the gear and no idea sort of person, obviously not you!. The sort that buy their kids a lovely pony after half a dozen lessons in a riding school, pay a lot of money for a totally unsuitable, top class pony that is too sharp for kids, then blame everyone else for kids falling off and being scared of it etc etc. and only turn up once a week and expect all yard to revolve around them because they are clients after all!
Apology Karma on its way!
Well we also have some lovely weather, all bright and crisp and sunny. Have power walked to yard this morning, 20 mins all up hill, then schooled pony (in hand) for about half an hour. we have been practising our l/r show, had a cone as a judge and have been practising figure of 8's in trot. and I have realised how unfit I am, only did one and thought i was going to pass out. Pony kept nudging me with nose as i stopped to catch my breath, if I keep this up will be very skinny and very fit come the summer.

Hey dazy at least you have a diagnosis and an explanation. So do dogs go on pergolide? Sorry to be morbidly nosy, but I am interested in all these medical things.

they have a drug called vetoryl which is trilostane which is an inhibitor of 3 β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase .. this bascially stops the overproduction of this steriod in the blood.
Pergolide is different in the fact that Pergolide works by binding with receptors in the brain that control the production of dopamine. this is used in humans with alzeimers too....
horses and dogs are different in theri treatment and presentation of cushings, horses get hairy, dogs loose thier hair... its all very interesting...

on a brighter note, my Mum has agreed to lend me the money to put 3 stables up in my small paddock in my garden... I will be totally self sufficient then. They are coming on skids, so if the nasty planning people take a look, I can show they are mobile... My 3 acres is literally next door across the road so it all looks good on teh horse front.
Pooh is loving being leader of the pack with his little girls and although I would rather he was tucked up every night, he is roasty toasty in his rug and seems pretty happy and sound..

Well that is just brilliant news! I am made up for you My friend put up 3 at the bottom of her garden. She rang the council first (knowing that it would b ok - but wanting to keep them on side). They were very nice about it and said as long as it was possible to move the stables by a few mm a year, there was not a problem
