Now folks I could really do with some advice we need to buy a new hoover we have 3 greatdanes and a parson terrier who all shed thier coats at a alarming rate, is there a hoover that will pick the said hair up without me having to sweep the carpets first please don't suggest laminate flooring as when the big dogs can't stop on it and 3 10st dogs heading towards you with no breaks is not for the faint hearted.

Well halfpass I hate hoovering but must admit the pet hair purple dyson is quite good it does pick up dog hair its the DC14. Laminate flooring shows the dog hair more than carpet, I have gone back to carpets.

thanks stephjw1 I will have a look at them I hate hoovering also but I hate sweeping the carpets and then hoovering even more so anything that will cut the time down is a plus with me, it would help if we didn't have dogs the size of Shetland ponies living in the house and shedding hair like a pony. two of them are only puppies and when they stand on their hind legs they are well over 6ft tall so god knows how big they will end up

Agreed, like the purple dyson - only have the Jack russel but she does seem to shed her weight in body hair each day and the dyson does limit the effects! Good luck with it

Sorry to say, have had a dyson, not the purple one, it was the old fashioned yellow model, but I hated it! Seemed to get bunged up on a regular basis and never really picked up properly. Now have a Samsung bagless which is quite good, but must confess I don't get a dog hair problem as mine is crossed with a poodle and doesn't shed.

Yes I agree with MM I had the old yellow dyson and it was c--p but the purple one is much much better, I would never have had another one until I had to borrow one and I was quite impressed so bought the DC14 (well actually OH bought it for me,)
