Does anyone fancy sharing what they have got for next year by way of Hacks, Cobs or Riding Horses. Also it would be a good topic to discuss what we like about the BSHC & RHA and what we dislike The AGM is in a couple of weeks, is anyone going?

2 New Hacks for next year one large and small, I would love there to be a Winter Series it's sooo boring during the winter, just a few shows, not every week, just to get the novices going nicely!!!
I joined the BSHC&RHA to make friends so perhaps, a few friendly get to togethers or demonstrations etc......

Molly, I'm soooo sorry I am trying to register, but things are not going according to plan, I work on a computer all day, but for some reason I just can work out WHY I can't register It keeps telling me that I've used the wrong form?! I will keep trying.
Okay, back to the original thread, like I said I joined purely, to have fun and enjoy my showing and I would really like to meet more Hack minded people!!! I am not going to the AGM, but several of my friends are.
I don't really know the BSHC&RHA, So I can't really comment, Molly, Hackety and other readers what would you like to improve on and why?

Ok, Keep trying Like how the society is run. Its good that they have special awards for home produced animals, young riders etc. Like it as an overall society, everyone seems very helpfull and friendly. Dont really have any faults with them,Maybe they could place some more HOYS hack qualifers down south as we have none!!

It's the Molly and HackFan3 Thread!!!!
Perhaps, somebody going to the AGM could suggest that there are more HOYS Qualifiers down South, maybe, worth a mention. On my search for new hacks for next year, people often said to me breeding a "hack" is really hard, I just wondered what other Hack minded people think that a top class hack should consist of?

Ha Ha ;D Certainly is the Molly & HackFan3 thread...Anyone else out there Yes for anyone going to the meeting please can you ask for more hack qualifiers down south as we have none, quite a few RIHS ones but no HOYS As we aren't made of money we dont have the money to travel all over the country chasing a ticket, Petrol prices seem to go sky high! Finding a good hack, up to height, straight elegant mover with clean limbs, that can be home produced, that is sain and sensible, NO vices (every hack seems to either crib or weave! ) Trying to find that at a reasonable price is IMPOSSIBLE

Not at the moment, it's just Molly and HackFan 3, personally, my favourite Hack, is Royal Trooper, for me he has everything I would want.
Molly, I think your next Hack should be called "Mission Impossible" only joking , but I totally agree, they really do seem hard to find Now Where did I put that Hen's tooth......

Oh I agree.."Mission Impossible" With my current hack I was thinking that same thing and she popped up. Bought her from a yard, When we were quite new to showing.Knowing what we know now on the people we bought her from, I wouldn't of touched her!! But i can honestly say, she has been a little love.Enjoyed every minute of owning her. If only I could find another of her

So next year in the Novice Hack Class at Windsor, "Mission Impossible" owned and ridden by Molly!!!! I hope your current hack, achieved what you wanted out of this year. No, seriously, I think that the reason people want big money is there's not the breeders out there and so demand outstripes supply, perhaps? 4 classes to fill Small, Larges and ISRT (2 of) Also the height is probably quite difficult to achieve!

Yep will be "Mission Impossible," But not ridden by Molly, as that isn't my name Its my cat's name ;D Yes she has done me proud for the 3 seasons I have owned her. Time to move on next year though A local breeder close to me says that is it hard to get height and quality together. The most common height that people acquire for is 14.2-15.2

That's it then having read the "Australian Thread" We should all go over there and shop, perhaps we could ask for discount for bulk purchases!!
Now, was it a small or large, or both perhaps!!!

Perhaps if anyone is going to the AGM they could ask on behalf of a Horse Gossiper, why the same judges seem to be judging at the RIHS and HOYS year in year out. Valerie Millwood and Lady Tyrell seem to be favorites at the mo.
In fact has anyone else had this problem, this year seems to have been worse than ever, that you get the same judges for RIHS qualifiers then judging HOYS qualifiers later on. Nothing against the ladies, but Chapman and Payne seemed to judge alot of hack and RH qualifiers this year???

I'm sooo sorry, yes, it's me yet again, this is getting very embarrassing But, I love talking Hacks and so this is the perfect thread!!! I am still trying to join and as sooon as I can I'll press that Karma button (Promise). In my opinion, there is no better picture then a beautifully schooled, elegant Hack to which there are no shortcuts!

When i went on a search for our hack, i tried to keep in mind the true hack qualities, and their origins. Hacks were used by the genteel to ride around London's Hyde Park, most often thoroughbreds, most of the bay variety, sometimes grey, allowing gentlemen to read their newspapers whilst riding one-handed, and ladies to carry their parasols. Photographs depicting these graceful and elegant animals were not taken that long ago, and to be honest, i feel, in my opinion, we may be heading in the wrong direction, in the way of not preserving the true to type hack. For it is not a breed, but a type only achieved and produced by careful schooling, and only possible with a horse possessing a sane attitude. We must not forget history and the grass roots of this class, is to show complete obedience and willing to please. We do our best, in the horse fraternity to preserve hunters and hunting, (i hope) and all that it stands for, i don't often get involved in debatable issues as i usually write for fun. However, in our present climate, i feel we need to hang on to tradition....lets abandon the strife for big necks and bums and look toward elegance, pace and obedience... strip me of my karma...i stand my ground on this one!!! I quite agree with you here, Hacks as you said used to be fine, flimsy and elagant. Not saying that their arent any around now but they seem to have got huge and the craze is in for "big bums, and huge necks," ETA- P.S- Karma'd you

I think this years HOYS hack champion was very 'typey'. Hope lots of people go to hack and cob agm as they are giving it a go in the 'North' this year. And everyone should vote too then everyone can enjoy a good moan with a clear consicience!! Am just about to break in a 3yrs that looks like it could be a cob but at 4 you are a bit stuck as in the novices he is going to look a bit of a shrimp mind you they say size doznt matter!!

Hi i have ventured into hacks for the past couple of years but i have to say orignally i found it quite intimidating!! I also found it difficult to gage what they wanted in hack classes and what a true hack is. I think many of the classes have lost that true quality hack - I believe they should be elegant, move beautifully and be a joy to watch go. My pony is not what i would call a true hack as he gives a pony ride but I usually get pulle din high as he moves across the ground well and looks elegant (he then goes down after the ride!!) but i think this is what so many hacks lack today, they go into the ground and lack the movement of orignal hacks. I do quite enjoy doing the hacks now, and am looking forward to seeing some beautiful hacks this year. I think maybe the line between the riding horse and hack has become a little blurred? I also agree with there being no qualifiers down south!!! especially as we lost Fulmer (what a great show). Unfortunately i couldnt go to the championship show this year but i went the year before and really enjoyed it. Another good thing I think is the younger judges coming through and hopefully they will use them more as I know it sounds a bit horrible but this year I have been under a few awful ride judges (which is often reflected in the entries of the class)so should there maybe be a check up system?
