Would any of you text someone if you were enquiring about a horse for sale, and then ask that the seller rings you? I think it's cheeky and cheap!! If you can't afford to make a phone call, how can you afford to keep a horse? ?? Is it just me??

In some circumstances I would prefer to receive a text- message tones are less intrusive than a ringing and ringing phone if for example I should be in work and my manager is still about, or as I work nights, a text tone will be unlikely to wake me but a ringtone probably would but I prefer to leave my phone with ringtones up full in case an emergency should crop up. I certainly don't mind ringing back a potential buyer
Similarly if I wanted to enquire about something for sale, I worry that I may be ringing at an awkward time, say in office hours for example, but would be unlikely to text unless I knew the person already or it stated it was ok in their ad.

Ummm, good points, just thought it was cheeky to ask me to ring them, it wasn't like they'd called and I said I'd ring back.....

I dont reply to texts if I have a for sale ad(I do state no texts though) as usually it's kids being nosey and I don't have time to mess around. If someone is genuine I think they would want to speak with you anyway.

If I was interested in a pony the last thing I would do is text!!!! I would ring so that I can find out if the animal is what im looking for. If I was selling I would ignore any text enquiries as I think if someone is really interested they will phone

I wish people would always put a landline number. I have a pay as you go phone so telephoning for a long conversation costs a fortune. I would never be so cheeky as to ask people to call me though.

I have had plenty of these texts, getting so hacked off being told I "must text back now" or "call me now thank you" etc etc I get them at all times of day and night too, 6am is a little bit of a stupid time to enquire about a pony, esp when you get back to them and they really are not at all enthusiastic anyway - GRRRRRRRRR
I will no longer respond to texts, if someone is interested they will want to call to have a proper conversation to get details etc!

Well, I told the person to call me after 5, and she did, she sounds lovely (though I'm not getting too carried away, been here before!!) She has arranged to come on Saturday, so we shall see!!

Well, I'm going to have to eat my words! Turned up when they said they would, text me to keep me informed that they were leaving etc, lovely people. Spent a good while with me and pony, answered all my questions with the 'right' answers!! Seem to know what they're talking about, and made me an offer, deposit left, picking him up tomorrow! :-) :-(

I always text if I'm interested in something for sale, but usually asking if it is still available, and when would be a good time for me to phone. It always seems to be appreciated by sellers, who can then ask me to phone when it is convenient for them.

The sort of texts I object to are "wot u wont for ur pony" No mention of who they are or anything. They do not get a response

Like heathers, I have sent a text to check if pony still for sale and to ask when would be best to contact seller. I wouldn't expect the vendor to ring me back but would feel happy that we had arranged a convenient time for me to call so that both parties could ask questions to ensure suitability of pony and potential new home.
