Most of the giving of them seemed pointless to me too - and the smiting was stupid - if you don't agree with what somewone says, come out & say it - don't hide behind your smites!!

I always felt they were quite good in the past but of late they have caused too many problems with people losing sight of what they were originally meant for! or perhaps they never realised in the first place!

they are a bit of fun but to be honest i couldn't really care less either way. I must admit that when i first joined HG and before i got used to the people on here i would always check out their karmas to see how popular someone was Which is a bit unfair really, judging someone by their karmas (which is just other peoples opinion anyway) and i would hate someone to judge me on my (9) karmas and not what i say in my posts. I would imagine unless you are a very argumentitive, don't give a d**n person that a smite could really sting. Two smites and i'd lose all confidence and not post again. ;D

I really don't think smites should be allowed back whatever happens.

I dont want to see them again, some people got very upset at losing them, went on and on about it ad-nauseum, and certain people felt so aggreaved by being smited, they resorted to name calling . Not very mature and very uncalled for. Personally it was nice to receive the odd one when someone felt it was justified, and of the ones I lost, so what, its not someone taking a year of my life!

I really don't think smites should be allowed back whatever happens. There is no way in the system to permit karmas but not smites - it's all or nothing

Im new, but i liked karmas becuase it meant i could agree with someone without having to post the same thing.
A well written post (even if i dont agree with it) deserves recognition.

I hate the damm things and smites even worse. I know most people are sensable but there always has to be one bad egg who seems to like bullying people and somehow they always manage to find the easiest ones to upset.

Im sorry but if you are upset by a silly number going up and down perhaps you need to rethink your whole life frankly. and if you need to announce everytime you gain or loose one thats even more pathetic
they were harmless fun, nothing more, nothing less.

I always felt they were quite good in the past but of late they have caused too many problems with people losing site of what they were originally meant for! or perhaps they never realised in the first place! My feelings exactly. People are not using them the way they are intended to be used. That's why I have removed them from the site for now.

Doesn't bother me. I had quite a few but not as many as you LP Probably good they're gone because when people said they nearly had a certain number i always had the urge to smite them , just to slow them down. Not to be horrible but it was just annoying when people only spoke about how many they had. This is a horse forum not a 'how many karma's do you have' forum I would probably of been smited for saying that

No leave them off. People can be so very petty about them. Not worth the trouble and irritation

i liked it when you saw someone had given you karma, slight novelty factor But if you are smited you just have to get over it, because its an insignificant number there for novelty factor really, so yeah bring them back!

Hadn't realised they'd gone lol!!!!! I wanted to get to a hundred. I knew it upset some people but, to others it did bring pleasure to see how many they got. Some people were giving advice and being helpful and doing karma threads to earn extra karmas. I don't really mind if they don't come back but, to others it may...

I think you should only be allowed to GIVE karmas not take them away. I have smited when in very, very much need. But, even then I throughly regret it.

Hand on heart I had no idea if I had been given a karma or smited!
They just made me laugh when saw people had negative figures! Made me chuckle at what they had done!

Why can't we just give out karmas but not take them away (smite)? That way if someone did or said something we approve of we can give them a karma but if someone else didn't like their action/words they can't take it away. Just a thought..............

Lets get karmas back, start everyone with zero karmas ( then no one can moan that they have no karmas because no one will have any!!! ) then everyone is atarting on an equal footing!!

lets not have them back. I only ever look at the last 30 posts - and they all seemed to be full of people giving Karmas for assorted reasons - at least now I can see what is actually going on!!!!
