To those people who have been so kind as to offer another deal help and coats and stuff, I so wish you are repaid many fold by lady luck. It restores my faith in human nature to read this thread.
Anotherdeal, looking forward to pics of yummy mummy in waiting. How is she in herself?

Im sure if she is doing well in herself you do have a good chance, however I really dont have experience of twins!!!!! She looks so fit and healthy so I really do think you have a really good chance of a good outcome. I must admit to my honest opinion though and that is the mare comes first!!! The foals are a bonus.
I did speak to my stud who have great experience of alsorts of problems yesterday about things and their thoughts were the same, keep your mare and if your foals arrive safe and well its a fantastic bonus!!!
However as stated above and also I do know of a twin i backed a few years ago there is also a good chance of survival if she can get them to a viable stage and presentation is good at birth!!!!!! The problem will be if she does foal and they have not got their lungs up and functioning. Anyway, Im sure you have read all the risks and problems and all you can do is be positive and hope she can go to a viable stage, but as I said, if she looks healthy and happy thats a massive bonus and looks good!!!!!!!! Fingers crossed she goes another two or three weeks then you have a much better chance. Even if you get them you will still maybe have to work hard and hopefully get them to survive.
Anyway, that does not sound positive from me so I will backtrack and wish you all the luck and hopefully she will hold on for a little longer and they will be born fit and well, at least at present the weather is with you!!!!!!! So heat is not a big issue as it would be at earlier times of the year!!!
I really dont know what else to say, I would be beside myself as im sure you are but you know, as we do, you can only do your best and the rest is up to mother nature!!!!!!!

How unfair life is to give you even more trauma so soon after losing Tabitha. It sounds as if you are doing all you can to give the foals every chance, and I hope your mare has a straightforward delivery and you can lose lots of time foal gazing.
When is she actually due?

Looking closely at her picture she does not look to have the shape of the mares i knew who foaled twins? is your vet 100% sure he has seen/felt two foals? it may be she is carrying her twins low but in my experience when a mare is having twins they are very barrel like all around their middle. I am hoping the vet has made a mistake, but you must treat the situation as a twin birth as that is what has been diagnosed. keeping everything crossed for you and your mare.xxx

Yes i agree holiday, this is one vet mistake we could all live with!!! sending huge vibes that this was a wrong diagnosis!!!
just wondering what her udder is like now??? any chance of a pic to look at??? but don`t risk getting kicked if the mare is unhappy about it.

Hi all I will take some more piccies today the side on ones don't show the sheer mass of her belly, as much as I would love you to be right unfortunately my vet has said it's definately twins or else - in his words -'that is a very deformed foal that will need a c-section to get it out'!
Thanks all again for your positive words you are keeping me going right now, ponymum we did think about setting up a webcam so I could watch from home but I decided I would just take up residence in the lorry I have CCTV set up so I can watch from the lorry but I'm so touched that you and I'm sure others would give up their time to watch for me xx

Thats a shame i was praying it would be a rare vet mistake for the better! well you are doing the best you can by keeping a close vigil and i imagine your vet is on standby too! Just a little advice as i have foaled twins, if the first foal is taking a little to long then give it a little pull (only if in the right position) as it can starve the second foal of oxygen if there is a long delay between the two births. Sometimes the mare rolls a lot this can be normal in a twin birth as the mare attemps to position the two foals. Have plenty of towels to help dry the foals and stimulate them as again sometimes the mare can take a while to get up after a twin birth and stimulating the twins helps get their circulation going. Although I am sure your vet will have given you simalar info. Forgot to ask what part of the country are you? and is your vet well practised in breeding and foal managment?

If i were nearer i would have been happy to help out but it sounds as if you have a great vet on standby and also all you need to keep a close eye on things. The mare i foaled was my sisters warmblood mare who just blatently refused to be scanned!! and sods law she was the one carrying twins!!!strangley she did not foal early but the only thing i did notice during her pregnancy was how strange her shape was, she was as round as a barrell and it did not drop when getting close to foaling!!! Wishing you heaps of luck!!! keep us informed.x

Hi anotherdeal, thought I would tell you about a mare on my yard as it may be helpful. She lost a perfect foal while foaling last time, so this time our vet decided that when it looked like she was very close to foaling i.e. bagged up and on the day she was running milk, he decided that he would induce her so that he and another vet would be there to help and the foaling would be under control as much as possible. This is what happened and, yes, it took them both to get the foal out but because they were there and everything was planned she had a beautiful healthy colt with the minimum of fuss. He injected her with oxytocin and within 20 mins the foal was on the floor. This maybe an option for you were she could stay at home yet you could have the help on hand. If you or your vet would be interested in talking to mine pm me for his contact details.

ponymum, ive no idea when it will be she has another 18 days till she hits her 320 days, but she isnt showing any more signs of 'getting ready'. lancs thats really interesting thanks, the vet will be out tomorrow so im going to have a good chat with him about options etc. Thanks viking Justy to top things off my previous vets who have made all these mistakes who i refused to pay (for obvious reasons) have just sent court papers which i received today, i really dont have the strength or energy to deal with this as well at the moment i feel like ringing them up and telling them about their latest c*ck up but i know i should just go down the proper channels

Have you taken some legal advice anotherdeal1?
I think you are right to stand up to your old (and shocking) vet, but I would think you will need some help?
