Just read this, being a newbie and all!! I was drained just reading it all god knows how you must have been feelin. Your mare sounds like an absolute star for going so long. Sad news about the colt but as you said some things were meant to be. Your filly looks so strong and healthy. Big well done to your mare and you for not going insane ;-)

Another1, congratulations, it was my mare that was given as the example of inducing - I had done 8 weeks of sleepless nights - well alarm clock going off every hour - just like you. My mare always throws twins, but vet has always picked up at early stage and we have had one nipped - I always feel really sad about this
Our vet is specialist in every element of Equine breeding/AI etc and I was relieved but terrified when he said he was going to induce her. We lost a very healthy live clot foal about 5 years ago from this mare, but no fault of anyone's - just not meant to be. So we weren't prepared to take any chances whatsoever, I was also using some money that my late father left to me.
Thankfully it only cost me £250 for her to be induced. 20 minutes later a had a huge healthy foal cantering around his stable - 2 weeks late and I can assure you nothing wrong with his lungs!
I am very experienced in the legal world - if you need any help in relation to the Court Papers - please do give me a nod - I will be only too happy to help.

p.s you don't necessarily need a barrister, and that is a very expensive fee you have been quoted!
