To make the site work we are going to need input from the people who visit the site. So if there is anything you feel would help make the site work better, dont be shy shout up. Things will get better once more people find us.

I think it is cowardly and not in the interest of anyone or any Society to encourage or allow people to post hurtful and potentially libellous statements under anonymous names. There was a recent case won in Court against a person using a false name and I feel the time has come to stop this current trend and seek out those who are destroying our Socities and the lives of others who use sites like these to air personal vendettas in such a negative way. It is all the more frightening that they choose people who cannot realiate many of whom have done so much to make our ponies great. I would like to see these sad people named and reported to the Societies involved as it is not fair to attack others in such a personal way.

I completely agree with the above post. To much notice is being taken by some Societies of the spiteful comments posted on this site by a jealous few.

I agree with some of the above statements but it is never quite as simple as that. There is quite a difference between libelous comments and an opinion. Given that this country allows free speech, people will voice that opinion and are entitled to so to an extent. To actually win a case in court some one would have to prove that the statement was either defamatory or libelous and not just a matter of opinion. There are many cases taken before courts that are not proved as defamatory or libelous as people are allowed an opinion. Having said the above. Myself and the Mods try to keep a watchful eye on what is posted on the site. Anything we feel is over stepping the mark we remove without any consultation. When we feel the comments are getting near to the mark we always try to post a warning. We do miss things though and people who feel that certain comments made should be removed are welcome to contact myself or the Mods via pm or email and ask for that post to be removed. That particular post will be looked at and the appropriate steps taken. The idea of this site like thousands of other sites is for people with similar interests to discuss the ins and outs of their chosen pursuit be it good or bad. At the end of the day you are going to get the few mindless idiots that are hell bent on causing trouble. Unfortunately this is a fact of life that we have little control over.

Hi sorry not a suggestion just a question, (I am a new user) How do you respond to a previous posting rather than just adding on the end? They seem to get in a muddle whose responding to which comment? I can see that you can do it as they appear in different text in a box, but I cant work out how to do it??? thanks

Dear Mods & Admin
i do understand that we all work & have commitments which take us away from our PC's. Today i have been sat in the office surrounded by PC's & have therefore watched & contributed to the 3 shire thread.
In response to part of a post by guestless "Also, remember some mods have work/other commitments so they are not online every day and a PM can therefore sit in someone's inbox for a few days or even longer before it is read." I would like to make the following comment:
I did not set up Horse Gossip nor do i have any jurisdiction over whether someone chooses to talk about me on this site. I do believe that the person who set up this site does have a responsibility of making sure that it is moderated quickly & efficiently. If due to work commitments the current mods are not able to do this then perhaps some more should be found who are able to monitor more during working hours. I do not think that it is acceptable that someone could pm you asking you to withdraw posts & defamatory comments & it sit in your inbox for two days.
Many thanks Enthusiast
p.s The 3 shires thread as it is makes very little sense perhaps it would be best if it was deleted.

Please can you change the 'last 10 posts of the forum' to either last 20 or 30! It makes it easier to keep up to date!
Thanks!

If you type horsegossip into google we are top of the page. If you click on a few of the headings in the list you will find that most of the other sites know of us as well

Hi, I love this site and spend hours reading it. One suggestion - please could you remove all the old event dates from 2006. I keep spotting my old one and have a fit because it is the wrong date! (OBH Vale Show 24th Sept. 06). I have entered the date for this year's in the Calendar, so thanks very much. Also, the Malthouse cancelled show in Jan, might put people off for the next one.

Perhaps you should have a maximum size for signature piccs Loads of peeps are on from work, sneaking a peek when no-one is looking But, they are caught, due to members having HUGE signature piccs that stretch the page!! Also, I'm lazy and can't be bothered scrolling across ;D So if everyone else is like me, perhaps you should put a restriction on the size of em piccs

I have found this web-site very friendly and fun. (Unlike a well-known weekly horse mag's chat-room that get's very spiteful at times) This one comes across as light-hearted and also full of useful information. One suggestion - PLEASE keep a check on stuff that is obviously out of date. The post 'MALTHOUSE cancelled' should have been removed by now, and can be very misleading. Or is it up to the person who posted it to get it removed?
