best one i saw was some years ago @ PUK summer champs and very easy to make ... PIED PIPER .. rider dressed in harlequin outfit and carrying a pipe/flute/recorder, six stuffed brown socks tied with long pieces of string and tied to back of saddle and dragging behind to look like the rats and then a gang of little children dressed in any kids clothes dancing behind

Polo pony is one we do - 5th at NPS last year! But made it in 2003 - been around a while I like variations of a theme on pony/horse - we do Polo Pony, Horse Fly, Sea Horse etc and with our Shilstone Darty - Love on the Shilstone Rocks! Oh and Titanic, not sure how that came about, it was 2nd at NPS last year! We also do Christmas themes such as 'Come ski-ing on Conemarra This Christmas'

I once did checkmates with my god daughter and a long suffering white connemara. We did the jockey up as the white queen, put lots of tinsel in pony's mane and tail and covered bridle in white glittery stuff. Then I got an old black day rug put big squares of white felt on it so it looked like a chess board and away we went. Good for non horsey judges. I've always wanted to do Desert Orchid. Child as Orchid (purple and navy blue petals Dessie's colours and purple face paint), Big white pony wears sandy coloured rug with egyptian type writing and pyramids on it.

Best one I've seen was 'Hey Diddle Diddle', black pony had white chalk patches and fake horns, and a tinfoil moon hung round neck, leader was in cat costume carrying fiddle, jockey was the 'little dog', carrying dish and spoon! Teddy Bears picnic is an easy one, checked tablecloth over pony, with paper plates and fake food stitched on, lots of teddy bears and jockey dressed as bear. If you have a grey pony it's quite easy to make a unicorn with a fake horn on browband and coloured ribbons in mane and tail, and jockey can be a princess. Also a good one I remember was a postman pat one, where jockey was pat and pony was in a huge cardboard box done up as a parcel! like this ![](http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/photo.php?fbid=1783235694671&set=o.184933478931&theater)

Best outfit i've seen was at my local RC. It was beach themed. Little pony with a blue rug on, with waves, shells, sequins, sea creatures sewn on, real sand along the bottom of the rug, and jockey in full divers outfit, snorkel, flippers the lot.. It was just genius!

My son won fancy dress a few years ago dressed as a bumble bee....quite easy to make! Black and yellow striped jumper (or t-shirt) black tights or leggings (we padded out the bum with a cushion) and made a tin foil sting, with tin foil antenna. He carried a plastic daffodil. Pony wore a big yellow ruff made of crepe paper so he looked like a sunflower. Never laughed so much in our lives! Wish I had pics ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)

We did Hawaiian/Tropical- Pony was wearing a hula skirt, pink legwarmers, flower garlands, homemade bikini (shells made out of clay and ribbon to hold them on) flower bracelets, sunglasses etc, jockey was wearing tropical stuff, and carrying an inflatable flamingo(wearng a tutu) and an infltable monkey (wearing sunglasses and flower garland!) The handler (me) was wearing hula skirt, shirt and flower garlands etc, I did it once without jockey, came 4th and 3rd, and with jockey came 2nd! Here are the pics: www.everybodysmile.biz/cgi-bin/public.cgi?form_status=order_image&img=LCY_8548{2b-Fancy_Dress.jpg&anc=p22_0001_es&ss=1&imgcat=2b-Fancy_DressEnjoy! x ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

The best one I've seen (and copied ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) ) was The Teddy Bears picnic!! My mum made us a teddy costume, and our shetland had a table cloth over him (like an exercise rug) with plastic; cups, plates, forks, spoons, no knives though! And I carried a basket whilst leading him, and my sister rode the pony! ;D

Years ago (and I mean nineteen hundred & frozen to death) I did a fancy dress class. I went as a horse fly, black & white striped jumper, my dad's aviator sunglasses and my brother who is really good at crafty things made me some wings out of twigs covered with plastic. I thought it was great, the judge was underwhelmed!!! Two generations on my granddaughter went as 'How clean is your horse' White Drs coat, Hilda Ogden duster tied round her riding hat, marigolds with fur trim, grooming box with household & horsey cleaning things. Afraid to say the judge was again underwhelmed so maybe I'm not the best for thinking up ideas!!!!!!

we turned our pony into a garden, we plaited his mane like a trelliss and threaded flowers in it, he had on a green rug with a blue patch on his bum as a pond with blue streamers down his tail as a waterfall and a plastic frog on a lilly pad his rider was dressed as a gnome.

Best one I ever saw was an english country garden the pony was festooned with flowers an arbour made from hoola hoops again covered in flowers with a fairy child sitting on and her baby brother of about six months dressed as a bumble bee. there must have been thousands of artificial flowers on the pony

ah Fancy dress i LOVE it and always seem to win with our outfits too... once i went as godzilla and the pony was the city underneath- just a white sheet with building painted on and i was godzilla with an action amn iin my mouth. also done goldie locks and the 3 bears i dressed up as goldie locks pony was a bed it was great. when it was halloween i dressed up as a corps bride and my pony had a huge bow tie around his neck and my train from my dress drapping all over him and then walking at the side we had a bridesmaid holding some flowers. my brother was a headless horse man and the horse had 'armour' on it was brilliant we came 1st and 2nd :L
last year side saddle i was Ariel- we had to a dressage test side saddle to music fancy dress- i had a red wig over my hat complete with tiara, a friend made my tale then i had a skin coloured lace body suite with a shell style bra on top, and pony had see creatures sewn onto his browband and a sea coloured rug with sea weed and shells sewn on.
