Preparation H (haemorroid cream) really works to take down the swelling - good on hocks too - mind you the look I got in the chemist when I bought 3 packs at a time .....

Have found splintex very good, not used the Gold which is for new splints but have used Silver on an old splint and it defo reduced it significantly. Windgalls are a pain I never found magnetic boots to work on any problem I tried them on. In the end my boy had his drained and then I had to bandage him. A supplement you can try is nettle it does seem to help!! Good luck

i bandage and use ice packs ect on my 22 yo windgalls before a show works brill and she wins quite a lot my friends yearling colt who won so much as a foal and yearling fell through our post and rail fence and fractured his splint bone (we wasnt aware at the time no signs ) then a splint formed he has had operated on and we are the minority 1% whos splint came back bigger he then had it lasered blistered ect you name it we have done it to no availe its still there but this splint is too big to carry on his showing career its such ashame for such a lovley quality coloured

we had a pony with a splint had it X rayed and it was a fracture of the splint bone, we got it on our insurance and he was operated on and made a fantastic recovery with no scarring and even passed a 5 stage vet and has never been lame in the last 5 yrs with no splints!

my SHP had wingalls, we just used ice tight which really worked along with polo bandages when Been worked. also i found shaving a splint makes it appear smaller and wen first comes up bandaging a lemon slice to it over night the after that splint-ex and light work or on a surface if not lame
