this is quiet a unusual story. In 2009 i took my welsh sec'c' mare to the stallion it was late in the season so i didnt get her scaned if she wasent in foal i wasent bothered i'd have taken her back in the spring, but by christmas that year i knew she was in foal, i might add that this is the first time that i have never scanned a mare thats been to the stallion, she foaled bang on her date 19/6/10 and it was twins one perfectly healthy filly and a mumified feotus the vet reconed it had died about 4 months he couldent belive that i had a healthy foal and mare, now if i had got her scaned and she scanned in foal with twins i would have had the delema of what to do squeeze one and run a very high risk of losing the other which was very likley im might also add this was my 3rd set of twins all from differnt mares how unlucky is that so i often wonder if fate played a big part in me diciding not to scan, this foal i bred for me because i lost my beloved bonny lass in may last year and the mare cara is her granddaughter so the foal is bonny's great granddaughter ive called her caris which means love in welsh this foal was ment to be and i dont think i'l ever be that lucky again. this is caris at 11 days old and mum cara she was 4 weeks in this one

What a beautiful foal, she sounds so special to you, definitely must have been fate! the exact same happened to one of my arab mares! she had a healthy colt foal and a mummified one, when she passed the mummified one it was a bit of a shock as i thought too that it may have caused the other foal to die and i felt very lucky that he was ok.

She's coming along beautifully. A real credit to you. How is your mare bred and who is your lovely foal by? Caris will be a lovely comfort for you, having lost your precious bonny lass.

I bred cara myself i only breed a foal every other year and i hadent planed to put cara in foal last year but when bonny died my thots turn to, if anthing happend to cara i'd have lost her line as her father s now gelded, caris's dad is Barwoods Hector ive ive listed cara's breeding below,it is a comfort havin her cara's full name is kilmar moonlight serenade sire; kilmar perfection by caerberllan tywysog coch ------------------------------- barwoods bonny lass dam; tullibardine seranade by weston pinup boy -------------------------------------- tullibardine seraph
