The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail instead of his Tongue.

Try giving some lamb lac in the feed. But seriously don't stress about the weight. If all the bloods are ok just accept you have a skinny pup. I have a setter that was like something from belson most of her life. She is now 15 and still plodding along.

I feed Burns dried food, which could be useful if there might be an allergy involved as it is basically chicken and rice, not wheat, and high quality feed in terms of the ingredients, no rubbish. One of their aims is not to produce fat dogs, so it's not over fattening, mine are on the high energy version and are really healthy but on the boney side.
I swear by it, have had all my dogs on it for years and they live long healthy lives looking well up to the end. Last dog in came from the pound looking bleary with staring coat and screwed up eyes but now looks a million dollars, grown his proper saluki feathers which were nonexistent when we got him and his grey/peach brindled patches are much more distinct, they could hardly be seen at first. You can still see all his ribs and his hip bones stick out - but I think that's a saluki thing anyway.

I agree - Burns is brilliant. My GSD was half starved as a puppy as she was intolerent to every other diet. Since she went onto Burns - she looks beautiful.
They also told me not to give more - of the food than the instructions say. Top up rations with Bonio or similiar to get the weight on if needed.

I'm a great believer in using quality feed for humans, ponies and dogs, I'm sure it saves money in the long term. Ours get topped up with anything we leave! Not much gets wasted round here with us cooking up meals for ourselves from leftovers, ponies get suitable veg peelings and dogs get all sorts. It horrifies me sometimes to hear what some others throw away - anyone whose parents lived through the was was brought up not waste any food!

you tell a dog anything it will never break your trust and repeat it.

lamb is far better than any other meat as its low in fat and easy on the tum, low protein dried dog food, small meals 3/4 times aday. rice and barley mixed in. Never feed cooked chicken bones, they will cut the bowels or block the bowel, as they break into sharp strands. good luck I am asuming the dog is up todate with its worming , has the vet checked for tape worm not normally present in dogs under 6 months but possible.
