Old Manor Farm do a product very similar to what you have described, they call it Natural 50/50. They say: "Natural 50/50 This new product is a mixture of Natural white shavings and chopped, dust extracted wheat straw with the addition of Eucalyptus oil. This discourages the horses from eating the bedding and gives a soft absorbent bed which smells wonderful!" here is the link www.oldmanorfarm.com/products.html

Apparently Nedz Beds uses eucalyptus as does Belvoir.

I would not deal with Belvoir if they were the last firm on earth. Their delivery driver reversed inot my lorry doing quite a bit of damage and they then told me that he was a contractor who it eventually turned out had no insurance. I had use my own insurance to pay for the repairs. Belvoir dont deliver when they say they will and send lots of damaged bags in each load. They then hassle you for the money from the day of delivery - and in one case before it had even arrived. You could of course just make up your own mixture and spray eucalyptus oil on it yourself.

Thank you all for your suggestions, I have emailed manor farm, nedz beds, sundown and bliss and await their replies, today's task is for me to source the best stable mats available for the best price.........any suggestions?? there is so much choice out there 12mm - 18 mm ?? ribbed, bubbled etc. etc. can anyone recommend any certain type or advise of those to avoid? well we use Quattro matting. The Eva type to be exact. I wouldn't say its exactly cheap but its very durable, its warmer then the typical rubber and extremly light weight. its about an inch thick too. Over the years, the first lot of Eva has moved with us to a few yards and lasted about 6 years so far and no sign of wear and tear. We ordered some more for another stable and i cant tell the difference between the old and new... Also makes mucking out very very easy, especially if using shavings. The down side if there is one is, as Quattro themselves say, it can curl a little and spread, but to be honest we've not had a problem with it at all. The spread has helped the condition to be honest, makes it better in my opinion. the link about it is here: www.quattro.org.uk/page2.htmthey are based in Penrith but deliver all over the country.
