Please can we restart the post where missing cups and trophies are put. This will enable secretaries to put those competitors who fail to return the cups for shows, which was a bane of my days as a show secretary!!!!! Edited to say - please add details as necessary.

:PGood idea proudwilliam and similarly any one who has a trophy hanging around and they've forgotten where it came from a brief description might reunite it with it's show or society.

We have fab trophie stewards for Derby who start the letters going out and the hunt for cups back, alternativly they can be sent to me to pass back to them, adequatley packed please, no georgian crystal chalices in a plastic bag !!!!! That sounded like a chandlier when it arrived !!!! And need to be back as soon as now really NOT on the day, it is not acceptable and fair. If you dont feel able to return them on time then dont take them, we dont want to impose a charging system as some shows have, our trophy stewards have managed to get everything back in past years, we will be asking that the actual person comes and signs for the award with thier trophy card and rosette ( no exceptions, if in the lorry , tough you need it !!)

Very good idea. So many people on here last year tried to help me retrieve our cups and trophies, so if we start early enough we can keep our eyes open for those who are named and shamed!! Let's hope it's not needed!!

I think it is disgraceful that someone who has won a cup/trophy and then refuses to return it the following year, ljust couldn't do that, l am amazed it happens. This is a good thread, at least you will not see my name appearing on here... because one, l never win trophies and two because l just wouldn't do it. Those that do ought to be utterly ashamed of themselves...

We have decided this year (2008) to only award cups and trophies to the Show- Jumping classes and also the three Showing championships. The main offenders, last year were showing people, I am sad to say, so there'll be about 30 showing classes without trophies. BUT we still need to get all 48 back from last year - let's hope the recipients are more forthcoming this time.

I think Pembroke Show have the right idea, I was looking at the schedule yesterday and they have last year's cup winners name and addresses under the name of the cup.

Yep, Llanddarog do it aswell. We couldn't pic up a Champ cup last week cos it hadn't been returned. How do you tell the child that there's no trophy even though it says so in the schedule!

We had that problem last year when my friends daughter won a trophy that hadn't been returned.... We were told it would be forwarded on as soon as it came back but it was obviously never returned!
However it is still in this years schedule so now everyone who knew that my friend won the class last year will think that she hasn't returned it which isn't very fair....
Another poor child is going to be upset!

I'm not having much luck with trying to trace my missing trophies and I now have another one to add to the list. This trophy is very important as the lady who presented it about 15 years ago is trying to trace it's whereabouts. It is called THE UNA OF KNOWE Trophy and used to be presented at Cheshire Branch NCPA Autumn show held in October to the best Shetland Foal and could have been missing for many years. Please pm me if you know where it is. Thanks.

Well after sending out reminders in may!! and instructions of where to return the trophies i am still missing a couple, the main one being "barclays shield" won for the in hand championship at british elite 2007, it was won by anke robinson from the darlington area and despite numerous phone calls and msgs left she hasnt even returned one call!!! If anyone knows this person please can you ask her to get in touch, I wonder how she woud have felt if we hadnt had a trophy to present to her last year!!! the show is on saturday and i feel i will be telling this years winner that there is no trophy to take home from the show.

I am flabagasted that people do not return trophies, I have never been on this post before as I couldn't understand why it was here but having been to the fantastic British Elite Champs this w/e where my son won the M&M LR class only to be told sorry last years winner hasn't returned it, well you should have seen his face - GUTTED!!! It is disgusting and there is no excuse for it. the organisers were mortified and so apologetic but it is not their fault. they said they would refuse entries from non-returners again, I think this is a really good idea and should be brought in nationwide.

Same here, my daughter won the cradle stakes and last years winner had not returned the trophy It is not the organisers fault and I feel very sorry for them - after all every child that wins a trophy is rightly very proud of themselves and their pony and it is devastating for them if it is not there when they go to collect it

Leigh & District Horse and Pony Club are trying to trace the many perpetual trophies that have not been returned from 2006 presentation. We have been unable to give out perpetual trophies for the last two years due to the large number of missing trophies. Please contact me if you have any of these trophies to return and I will arrange collection. If we dont get the offers of return then we will have to resort to knocking on people's doors or naming and shaming on Horse Gossip and our website until they have been returned. Thanks for your help.

I have a trophy I would like to return but have lost the contact details so wonder if anyone here could help. It was won at a show at Tickhill Arena, South Yorkshire, July/Aug 2008 and was one of the showing spectacular shows I think. I cannot for the life of me remember anything else unfortunately but it was a lovely show and very nice people. Many thanks
