I would ask vet to do a pd, its a simple procedure and will tell you straight away, very difficult to tell with a first foal, but she does look a bit scrawnyapart from the belly, just my opinion.

k thanks if shes definately not then i want to cut her feed down a bit coming into spring (shes not on much anyhow !) as i want her a tiny bit more toned/trim... cayberry - photos are very deciving... shes defianately not scrawny - just needs buildin gup muscle - shes 4... and a chunk and a half - she could swallow her TB boyfriend lol

One of my ponies even up to evening of her having her foal we would question whether she was in foal or not she was so trim.....then next morning there it was! and she would be back in her 'skinny jeans' so to speak. Just get the vet out for piece of mind

You say your vet isnt coming till March!!!
Sorry but if it was mine I would have him out tomorrow, give yourself the piece of mind then you can move forward.
For you and the the horse :-)

Have you contacted the person you bought her from and asked if she had been near any stallions ?

I would also check with her previous owner to see if any chance she had run or got in with a colt or stallion, I would if I had any doubts get your vet to check her over. He should be able to do a manual feel and tell you if there is a foal lurking in there!!!!!!!

This happened to me when i got my mare, she was served 10 month before i got her she had a gut on her like she could drop and fat teats. I had the vet out the moment i was told this info. Im not being harsh in anyway but stop ummin and ahhing and have her scanned, you can sleep at night then and be happy you know whats going on with your horse, its the only way. Mine luckily wasnt in foal, their would have been a panic on if she was. Good luck and keep us posted. xxxx

As everyone else has advised, I would get her checked especially given the enlarged teats and discharge.

In foal or not she should not have any "yellowy" discharge...she could have an infection! Have you taken her temperature just as a matter of interest?

Hi , Im just up the road from were you keep your horse. I have a mare that is due in 5 weeks and i would be rather cocerned if she had had any yellow discharge from any part of her body. IMO she doesnt look to be in foal but that counts for nothing. I would get the vet out and ask for her to be scanned. If you need any help please PM me like i said im up the road and friends with your yard owner.

so! vet came out, did an internal (somone elses bloods as one came back inconclusive recentlyso she prefered the internal route)... and found nothing.... i reconed if she had of been covered when i said she would at least be 6 months (more like 7).... but basically vet dosent think she is but without scanning she cannot be 100% (but likely shes not)! so glad really as it would completely ruin our ridden career, as i have hoogeee plans for her.... and then put her in foal in 2013 iff! we have achieved what i want (which wont be hard lol!) so to be 100% positive shes not - bring on a season lol!

Well all of my mares are horribly hormonal at the moment so you shouldnt have to wait long.

At least you have more of a positive answer, it should at this point if she is as far on as you would assume be unmisable to a vet that she was in foal.
Very few of our mares are cycling yet so I wouldnt worry about her not showing in season and some mares are difficult to tell at the best of times even when in full season they can be quiet about it. Its still a little early in the year to have true seasons for most mares.

I think ours a bit further on as its a bit warmer down here. I had to split up my 2 geldings yesterday as with one of my mare's sqealing and showing her tail to everything with four legs things were getting a bit heated.
