I don't know anyone could put 'No' either, to be honest i'm not sick of them coming at the top of the line, im sick of the owners that make their horses like that. I struggle so much to keep the extra weight of my mare and yes its hard work but I would never forgive myself if she became ill. All for the sake of a rosette.

Yes i hate it when they win! And the ponies cant even extend becuase there to fat!! We try very hard to exercise Vicky and our section A's or they would be huge! Vicky is so greedy, she only gets hay and grass and is perfect wait Will have to try very hard now to make sure she doesnt go fat when the spring grass comes!!

It's very annoying! For some reason it is fashionable for them to be 'fat' it just makes them look really over topped and stuffy! Sometimes you can even see fat lumps on them and they win! Ad this is at county level, even HOYS!!!

I was once under a judge...And i wasnt going to get anywhere as there was so many fat ponies in there, and they always come top of the line up.But I got 4th out of 15 and he said to me 'I hate FAT ponies' and they were all at the bottem! He was the only judge that i have seen place fat ponies at the bottem! x

Well Fran was a bit chubby but she had only just got into work but she wasn't fat as her neck wasn't all cresty and had NO LUMPS. Plus she went to an hour teach in and wasn't out of breath it just takes her a few weeks and she'll be the perfect weight! Currently she is ready to show and got the fat off!!! x but I agree fat ponies are coming up not just a bit chubby but cresty necks and lumpy bums!I'm not annoyed by mm's carrying a bit too much in the winter when they have just came into work but fat show ponies in the summer is what I don't like. Some people fed their ponies steroids to feed them up and put 'topline' and their ponies has lumps everywhere. I think fat ponies coming up are most annoying in shp's. When they have NO bone, NO front but yup they're carrying weight so they're a show hunter NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can someone show me a 'fat' pony? Because by the sounds of this topic, all of my ponies are majorly obese!

i like to see everything covered but i know what you mean celulite is not a good look on a pony! i have the opposite problem, fed up with seeing ponies with back ends like cows ridden into the ground by awfull children and parents allowing it, more jumping than showing but still... shouldnt be!

I bought a section a 4 weeks ago and he is a total chubster. You could pull two stools over and use his back as a tabletop !! Trying very hard to get him in shape and loose the chub for the show ring. It is not going to happen over night and I would totally agree with any judge who knocked us down the line. It can not be good for any animal to be carrying excess weight xxxx

That shetland is awful poor thing! Why can't people realise that these are horses not prized pigs!! He looks much happier in the 2nd pic I think the other is a nice weight but prehaps the tiny jockey just makes him look bigger - in fact i really like it

i would look on the photography websites, you would loose count of the ones that were obese, the HOYS 143cm SHP is a good place to start, there's quite a few that are grossely overweight in there

My section d was very overweight when i bought him!! I have tried so so hard to get the weight off him and he's on a permanent diet!!! We were put down the line quite a lot last year because of his weight and I fully appreciated why!!! I would have been embarrased if we had been top of the line up when he was soooo fat!!! xx (the pic was taken last summer.....he wasnt turned out on all that green grass....I promise )

think the thing we need is some judges that don't follow the trend - obese is best - at shows, that would get people to stop stretching their ponies but at the end of the day, that's showing for you

Photoshop Gosh! If you think some of those 143's are "grossely overweight", I can't begin to imagine what you would all say about my ponies!
