ilmp,I personally think blossom is the perfect weight at the moment looking at her pics, cant wait to see her in the flesh. my welsh A actually needs a bit more weight on him,he is certainly not fat at all and could easily do with having a bit more weight on him. I would never make him over weight just for the show ring,my show ony is in near perfect condition, shame he can't be ridden for another few weeks xx

Hannah, I don't think any of yours are over weight, I think over weight is when the horse or pony can't perform to the best of its ability.
My pony is overweight at the min and im trying my hardest to get it off her. I'd prefer her to be able to go round a fun ride, not struggle to get round a ring a couple of times!

Hannah, your ponies are not overweight. From the pictures on facebook they look the perfect weight! My section D needs more weight, and with Vicky will need to be careful when the spring grass comes! She is such a good doer. xx

H&H say that there is a new rule that maybe introduced that if a pony is over weight in the show ring they are deducting marks.

there is a difference between a slightly chubby pony who has just came into work and that shetland who was GROSSLY overweight. That sp picture well it's hard to tell if it's fat the child is quite small so that makes it look worse......you can tell if a pony is overweight...if they run out of energy after a 20 minute workout.....

H&H say that there is a new rule that maybe introduced that if a pony is over weight in the show ring they are deducting marks. Will this actually happen though, because surely if a pony is overweight now they should be knocking marks! At the end of the day it will be another rule that is down to judges discretion!

I agree - it's down to the judge at the end of the day and it's their desicion but it does say in h&h that judges have to detuct marks and people have been complaining about fat ponies and so many people are going on about this that judges feel they have to detcut marks as this is a huge issue in showing at the moment.

lol jobear I reckon about 70% of ponies in the winter months that have just came into work are "podgy". But what kind of FAT ponies are people sick of......chubby ones or things with cresty necks and lumpy bums there is a difference?? xx Because it's such a big thing now judges seem to be picky on each pony so I'd make sure all your ponies are in tip top shape Fran has a bit less hay and more work now she has been in work a bit longer!!!

judges are being so cautious they are putting podgy ponies down A PONY WHO IS OVERWEIGHT WILL STRUGGLE TO STAY IN WORK FOR MORE THAN 20 MINUTES - THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A GROSSLY OVERWEIGHT PONY AND PONY JUST COME BACK INTO WORK!!!!
