To be fair I think a lot of people type in a hurry and don't read over what they have written, I know I certainly have!! But yes some clearly do not know how to spell. Any errors in that?? ;D

I have to say I type in a hurry and sometimes make mistakes, I am not the best at spelling anyway so really have to concentrate so when I'm replying on here and, for example baby starts crying thats when it high lights just how bad my spelling is!

Some people type in a hurry, so they don't have time to read over or spell check. But some people really need to learn to spell! Eg. There, their & they're. It isn't hard to learn the difference if you don't know. I am quite good with spellings, but I usually use the spell checker anyway.

Yep - there, their and they're have to be top of the tree and on any forum.
Quite and quiet - another one.
On here I think trial and trail.. and malting, molting and moulting are definitely worth a mention too.

Confirmation is one that drives me quietly barmy! And 'definately', 'Flyde' instead of Fylde, 'reigns, rains', there are loads!!! Having said that I do appreciate that correct spelling doesn't come naturally to everyone, and I try to be patient!

Prehaps some people have dyslexia like me . There is a spell check on here so suppose its not that difficult to correct spelling errors. And people do type in a hurry especially when its a fast moving thread

Sometimes people are in a hurry and make mistakes, I would rather people post than think they haven't got time to proof read or spell check so not bother to post at all. I'm really worried now that you are looking at my spelling!

Its not so much the typos that come with fast typing but really the lack of understanding of which words to use such as the their and there as mentioned before!
The problem with these new communication methods is that we all end up using shorter and shorter hand language such as "text" speak, and this is eventually going to evolve our language and I we will lose words eventually-just because we are always in such a rush!

Not so much the obvious typos that would worry me, but some of the bad grammar and wrong word usages make some posts very difficult to understand - I don't bother trying to read those like that - I wouldn't bother with the misspelled one above but would just ignore it.

Sorry to stick my nose in but, do we have to be so precious about it? Surely to god the forum is an informal place for everyone, regardless of education, background or abilities to come and chat. Who cares if people make spelling mistakes, grammer mistakes or any other type of mistake when it is just a bit of fun entertainment.
Personally, i am aware that i often make mistakes whilst typing quickly - i am always in a rush and often 'mobile' so it makes it awkward.
Can we just give people a break - surely there are more important matters to discuss!

Not being precious - it's about communication as far as I'm concerned.

It depends what I am replying to. If it is a serious post and I want to make a serious point then I am more careful about spelling and grammar.
I do know how to spell most words (though I still don't know how to spell 'rhythm/rythem/rythom' and I know none of those are correct so will spell check this before I post.
I also have a new laptop that the keys on are either too sensitive sooooo I geeet lots of double lettttters, r i isses them off altogether! And when I get excited or am in a rush I may make to odd typo.
I think as long as the post is readable then it doesn't make a great difference if there is the odd spelling mistake or punctuation mistake.
My pet hate is half a page without a new paragraph! I put too many paragraph spaces in to be grammatically correct, but I know it gives me headache reading too much in one block of text so if I feel I am waffling on a bit I break it down so people can just read the main points and find them easily.
