EmmaJane, just have to say those rosettes are stunning!!! And yes I agree with the rubbish rosettes, there is nothing worse than paying a decent amount to enter & coming back with a scraggy little rosette. Some show's we go to don't even have prize money & we won a class the other month & all we got was a cheap rosette, I worked out that they had taken over a £100 in entry fee's in that class & probably paid £8 for rosettes! Its not fair on the children!!

Agreed even HOYS ones are naff iv had a 5th hangin up on my wall for quite a few years now and its going droopy and looking old without anyone even touching it and the ones they give everyone for just getting there are that cheap nasty ribbon but i do think the gold plastic centres are lovely ... Ribble valley riding club rosettes are amazing really big and wow ... what do people think of the North of England sash rosette things? i think id rather have a nice rosette than 1 piece of thin quite cheap ribbon wrapped round my ponies neck but i suppose it is a bit different x

We transfered our orders recently to Red Rose rosettes. They use only the best ribbon and are only too happy to help. Check out their website www.redroserosettes.co.uk

Are we the only people who think that all these gawdy, huge rosettes are tacky and tasteless?............ Obviously we are!
We prefer a well made, 3 tier rosette in one colour (preferably red) with a couple of tails. Perhaps gold letters ok with name and year of show somewhere- either centre or tails.
No huge gold or silver stars or foot long tails please..... Where on earth are we supposed to put those things? In the box as soon as possible here!
I know, it takes all sorts.... We also think evening performances and wanting to be a celebrity are naf and tacky too. (probably haven't got into the 21st century yet - probably won't ever now!)
And sashes..... What do you all do with them? (sash box?)
:-) J

I love a nice rosette, and I love an evening performance. Some of the the county show rosettes are really disappointing and I would rather have a nice rosette than prize money.
Haha, my son was was quite put out at a local riding club one year. He won over all junior champion and we so excited about the presentation dance. If only you could have seen his face when presented with a 5 tier pink and lace rosette to go with his trophy. He was happy to show off his trophy to his friends but the rosette was hidden lol.

We got a mouldy one from a show once - obviously stuck at the bottom of the box! Another time got one with someone's name on the back! X

Last winter we did games at Myerscough organised by the Fylde branch of the Pony Club and the rosettes were beautiful! the overall winners rosettes were really plush and there were beautifully printed sashes. the trouble they'd gone to was evident - really excellent!

we went to a show in ABingdonlast weeken and my daughter competed in some of the childrens fun classes and the rosettes were gorgeous 4 tier ones with long tails and the entry fee was only £6 a class. The rosettes were the same for all the classes, fun and serious which makes a nice change!! The company name on the back was berkshire rosettes and I would certainly use them for any show i organise.

We have addressed the issues at one of our shows and would like to see what you think, we have stuck to an original design but in top notch ribbon and i think they look traditional for a county show but are bigger and more luxurious I do belive at a county show that bling bling and knife points do step away from the tradition and that eventually this style will be adopted for all sections, cattle, shire and livestock folk have to be in agreement to this style and this is that they like, they have very large centres with the embossed logo now, and they are taking some making !!!!!

We went to Kilnsey Show in August and the rosettes weren't great, I have had better at trailblazers, but the difference was that for a 2nd place we won £22 and at trailblazers working hunter there is no prize money but the rosettes are huge!
