Sorry, in need of a rant about uni accomodation.
this week has just been awful, the water in my block stopped working on saturday and even though we complained loads it only came back on yesterday!!! and even then we might as well not had - the pressure was nonexisitant, it was luke warm from the hot tap and the showers...well lets not go there. Not only this but when it came back on, my sink leaked from somewhere soaking all the towels I had on the floor, so I hung them over the stair railings and our warden took it upon herself to dump them in the digusting mess the guys like to call the kitchen. Then just to top it all off yesterday I lost electricity in my room.
For the money we have to pay for these rooms it is pretty shocking really.
Rant over, sorry it was so long

What University are you at ashadow? I'm at the University of Manchester and there is a great variety of halls, and standards, here. I was lucky to get one of the nicest ones but I have heard some horror stories! Hopefully you'll be able to laugh about it later.

I'm at hartpury and its been ok most of the year so far and had tons of fun, its just this last week thats just annoyed us all with the lack of water. Ours was the only block on site to have problems and it just seemed to take foreve before they did anything about it

Where were you jus? I was in the Victoria Park area which was lovely, and I'm still in a house there now! All I can say ashadow is persevere or maybe ask to be changed to different accommodation

As for you cindy3, I can't help you very much I'm afraid. I ended up in my last choice of accommodation (didn't want to live in a girls' hall!) as I applied for it late but I don't think anywhere else could've been better for me. I even stayed for another year as well! I still go back there a lot and most of the second years (and even some of the freshers) know me. I hope that you find a good fit for you as well.

im in 3rd yr now - first yr lived in oak house (shared bathrooms and box rooms!) and the amount of times i would of loved to come home and sleep in the stables! but had loads of fun and now live in a house in fallowfield with 7 other housemates - we have had mice, rats, burgalars, the house has been on crimewatch (for the fallowfield rapist hunt) but its been so much fun and dont want to leave! cindy3 you just have to go with it and you will love it! lozloz1 i applied to some in victoria, what yr are you in?

I've heard a lot about Oak House! One of my housemates lived in Richmond in his first year. Whoa, we just have mice in our house and I thought that was bad! 7 housemates sounds pretty crazy, I just have 3. I'm also a 3rd year and I lived in St Gabriel's for 2 years, the smallest hall in Manchester. I don't think I could've coped with Fallowfield, it'd be too tempting not to go to lectures sometimes I think. It looks like an awesome though!
