Well they are a good company and all insurance is going up, but they are pricing themselves out of the market. Have a look at a comparison site and then put up those you think are good value and see what experiences people have had.
What about Tesco?

They have put my 4 x 4 insurence up by 18 pounds a month as well., just had a quote from Adrian flux insurance, and its 140 pounds a year cheaper than nfu and includes better breakdown cover than the nfu did. Nor sure what they are like but with the prices else were I'm thinking of giving them a try !

Must admit was suprised but its the vets fees cover has gone up as standard to 367.50 per pony, now you have to weigh up the pros and cons, if your a saver or a gambler ....... 367.50 x 2 = 735.00 per year plus excess x 2 of 145.00 = 290.00 - Could i save £1025.00 per year in a bank account The answer is in my case NO, i would dip into it, now do you take the risk of a colic or a broken leg, do you have £5000 in an emergency, again in my case NO, because im not a saver. Can I afford £92.00 per month for peace of mind. YES. Char is insured for £1800 this comes in at loss of animal at 71.40 Per Year and Fred Slightly less though when he hits age 4 and has done more I will increase his. Personal Liability for each is 72.77 which you just cannot be without in this day and age. I then pay various personal accident ones too which are minimal for me and my daughter, 60.00 per year to cover my trailer valued at £3000.00 though is in a locked compound and clamped, and just under 50.00 for all tack including saddles, plus insurance tax, I do receive a discount if 115.00 as for having multiple policies Including car & Home, so comes in for horses and horse related stuff at 1111.26 per year. If you are lucky enough to be able to have £5000 avaliable per horse saved, some people are more savers im a kind of live for the moment type person, then you could get away without the vets fee cover. Sadly what has pushed all insurance up is the claim claim claimeers .......... I only claim if i really have to, minor injuries, even pretty major ones, like when Keisha sliced her face, due to an amazing vet who trusted me with aftercare and lots of phone calls and photos, needed minimal call outs, came to less than my excess, NFU were so good to us over Keishas Illness that eventually cost her her life, they paid everything, and with the peace of mind of having a current policy and being able to say to the vet that, do everything you can with in the policy, and please try and save our horse, is in my opnion and situation worth the premium xx

I do have my horse insurance with them and my cats, but not my vehicles, far too expensive.
With regard to horse insurance, it is about time people like me who never claim are rewarded with no claim bonus and you should also get a discount for post and rail, 24/7 supervision, etc. It makes me mad when I see people keeping their horses in fields with 26 plus others and barbed wire, visiting them once a week and paying the same as I do.

We have 4 x 4, little 2 seater sports car and 7 1/2 ton horsebox on a multiple vehicle policy with NFU. Just had the first ever claim(which was 3rd parties fault not mine) and they have paid up, just waiting for the excess to be refunded. I must admit I am guilty of not shopping around for motor insurance, it is just too easy to carry on as usual. I will be checking this time when they are due though particularly as I have made a claim even though it hasn't come of my insurance just incase they use it against me.

I was involved in a accident when driving my lorry leaving a major showground last September. I was not at fault, it is counted as private property plus 4 seperate witnesses gave me their details independently stating it was the other drivers fault. A month after the incident I was contacted to say the other driver had claimed against me so I duly completed forms and gave them details of all of my witnesses thinking this would be the end of it as I knew other driver had no witnesses to confirm her story.
You can imagine my surprise when last lonth I found out the claim had still not be finalised nor had NFU contacted any of my witnesses. All NFU spokewomen would say was that they were still deciding who was at fault! Regarding cost of the insurance they were very competitive and offer 12 equal payments rather than 3 as my previous insurance company. Insurance is due for renewal next month and I still dont think the case has been finalised - I dont know if I will continue with NFU!!!

My mums with Churchill and her premium has gone up ridiculously too (no claims in years, she's veyr careful), so it can't just be nfu. My ponies are insured with nfu and they have always been excellent with us, payed out on time and premium not as high as we expected this year.
