It's Bobby Roberts circus, they interviewed the owner on the news, said they didn't know it was happening. It was filmed by an animal rights group, they said one day the elephant was hit over 20 times.
Apparently the culprit has 'disappeared'. The elephant doesn't perform anymore, but still travels with the circus.

OH goodness, that is awful. That man deserves to be beaten with that pitchfork. I don't understand why people do it to animals, poor defensless creatures that cannot stand up for themselves. Some people are sick and deserve to be locked away. So sad |

I saw this on the news as well. It was just so upsetting, that grand creature. I think the elephant should be taken away and rehabilitated in a wildlife park. No life for an elephant.

I dont understand what he is trying to make the elephant do?? it cant move as it is shackled, so he is not trying to move it (not that beating it is acceptable anyway) but it really shockingly seems like total abuse for the sake of it!! I really dont understand sick

Just on my local news...Anne is retired officially, two keepers have been sacked (however, the one who did this has "disappeared").

This made me cry , the circus was quite nearby us last night there was a huge protest on the green where it was and I dont think they got many people paying to go into the circus at all... ist such a shame I cannot watch that link saw it on news and its horrendous, such a big proud animal being beaten by a little man  ... she couldve crushed him to death if she wanted and just stood there...too sad ... I hope they find him and string him up ..one good thing is the publicity this has raised ..re circus animals... I never go to circuses with animals ... so maybe this will raise awareness and help stop further cruelty |

I saw this on the news and I just wanted to kill the b****rd how can a human being be so cruel, if people like this are capable of doing this to defensless animals what are they capable of doing to another person!! Punishment for this type of behaviour really needs to be looked at. So sad, poor elephant hope she settles in to her new home and has some happieness, finally.

Read in paper that it Anne is definitely going to Longleat into a purpose built enclosure with two qualified elephant keepers and a qualified elephant trainer and that it is to happen very shortly. Evidently Longleat are saying they will get extra elephants in if that is what she needs. Evidently vets from Longleat have already started treating her arthritis and are hoping she will be able to make the journey to Longleat shortly.
Circus is still playing it down through and Bobby Roberts' wife was quoted as saying that she is not being taken off them but they wanted her to retire and that they can visit whenever they want. Only a couple of days ago Bobby Roberts was saying that he wouldn't retire her.

I dont normaly like animal rights nuts but i hope they give bobby roberts whats coming to him and i hope his circus goes bust. Evil vile little man, that elephant was taken from the wild after her family was shot, the world would be a much better place if we werent in it!!!
