Small children and buggies in the horse walk drive me nuts. My pony was hit in the head last year at a show in a horse walk by a football some boys were playing with. when i gave them the look the dad said oh sorry!!!!!! but did not stop them playing football in the horse walk

Hi Dimwit
Think we where at the same show yesterday, with the tack stall set-up next to main gateway to the rings and the little box trailer at the fence side as well, narrowing the gap even more, and then mounted competitors stood in the gateways as well......
The tack stall would have been better flush to the fence, people would have seen what they where selling better, the only thing i saw was the covered back and 2nd hand rack.....
We took our 18mth niece, but left her pushchair in the wagon and carried her through the busy areas.... nothing worse than some proud parent, with a child that can bearly walk, stumbling through the horse walk areas......

push chairs should be a no no in horse walk areas, many a time i have had to warn people about what would happen if a horse got frightened and got loose or became attached to a push chair with a child in it, does not bear thinking about and i know it has happened. i suggested to two young blokes yesterday that they move as they were lying down sunbathing in the middle of an area where horses were moving up and down not just at a walk, i was trying to get an exited pony who did not want to walk in straight line into a ring and they looked at me like i had gone mad when i told them to be careful as the pony i was leading may jump on them if they stayed where they were and i had to get past, they looked at the pony and they promptly moved.

The Health and Safety regulations about having horse walks to rings from horsebox areas have been in place for MANY years, and yet some shows totally ignore the requirement! Mind you - I find the worst culprits are the class winners who stop in the exit to speak to all their 'connections' whilst the rest of the class is waiting to get out!

I find it dangerous when there are pushchairs and small un-ruly kids around on horse walks. Espcially with stallions or colts or any pony really walking down their. When a serious accident does occur, many people will unfairly blame the horse and owner. When the horse walk is designed for HORSES. Not kids or dogs etc.
