OMG im so mad and dont know what to do? I sold a goregous show saddle on ebay at the begining of this month, very nice saddle no marks etc, been in my tack room covered up. A buyer from ireland bought it for £250, i had the postage down as normal delivery but i sent it parcel force at my own expence [thank god i did]. I didnt hear any thing no communication or feedback, so i emailed her earlier this week, she said that she hadnt recieved it? I went on to parcel forces web site, got the date/time of delivery and the signature and printed it off as proof . Emailed her back............oh dear my mistake says she i have recieved it. Wow isnt that amazing............. Got an email today, item not as described its damaged!!!! That saddle was in ace condition i bubble wrapped it all up. No way was it damaged. Iv phoned pay pal, they said the buyer has to return it then i refund via pay pal. Which is fine as long as i get my saddle. I have heard so my horror stories about buyers taking money back out the sellers pay pal account with out the item being returned??? Can she do this??? She is obviously far from honest . And what do i do if my saddle is now damaged??? I do have photos of it before it left here? Help, never using ebay EVER AGAIN

I once sold a saddle on ebay and had post to uk only on it. The winning bidder was from France?? I told her postage was quoted for UK only she was very awkward and without my permission sent £17 for postage. I quoted £20 for UK on the listing. Was so not happy at all. Anyway I cut my losses and sent it only for her to complain about the item when she received it. Wouldn't care but she got it for £50 it was a real bargain. If i was you i would open a dispute as the seller before she gets chance then paypal will know the situation incase it gets out of hand. They have probably tried it on the horse and it doesn't fit. x

I have learnt the hard way with ebay too and it's my last resort to sell stuff, if there is anything of a value that I can't afford to write off I always take a picture of it before I wrap it and then of it in it's packaging with the date on the camera so I can have some proof if needed. Sad that we all have to think like that though, good luck, hopefully you'll get it back in one piece.

I had a recent incidence with Ebay too, it was for only a small amount of money luckily, but I sent an item off and got proof of posting, as I always do, I then received an email saying the buyer had not received their item (all other parcels sent the same day had arrived) I asked at the post office as to what do I do about compensation or finding out where it had got to, and they said I had to wait so many days before it could be classified as lost and even then it could still turn up at the buyers. When I told this to the buyer they wanted a refund, and didnt want to wait that time. Anyway to cut a long story short Ebay refunded the money to them automatically and then billed me for it. I'm not saying in this instance that the buyer was not being truthful, but for all I know they may have now received it, and got their money back. I just wanted to wait that specified time before refunding, but it was taken out of my hands, and as far as the proof of postage, its a waste of time, because to claim a loss you have to prove it hasn't arrived. From now on all my parcels will be sent recorded. Furball hope your situation is resolved quickly.

Tell the dishonest witch to send it back for you to examine it at her expense. Also tell her that you have photos taken of it in perfect condition just before it was sent so if it is damaged then it was damaged by her . Also tell her that you believe she is a dishonest witch because she denied receiving it until you informed her that you had proof of delivery and a signature and that Paypal and Ebay are aware and have all correspondence between the 2 of you. That should put the willies up her and hopefully you wont hear another word

I have had this problem before too its a nightmare! Paypal treat sellers so unfairly too, i sold a phone ages ago in brand new condition i sent it recorded delivery so i had evidence of the postage, then a few days later the buyer contacted me saying they hadnt received it, so i checked on parcel force and what a suprise, they had received it!! So i then contacted the buyer to say there is proof that i sent it and they suprisingly said oh it came this morning (bit funny how they received it days ago) then we left it at that, then a week later they said it was damaged even though it was brand new sealed in a box never opened! So they put a claim in paypal. After a month of paypal looking into it the buyers got a refund!! and i lost my money and the phone! Since then i have never used paypal or ebay as i got ripped off by some scamming buyers! I even contacted the police and they were unwilling to help i was shocked!
I do hope you get your saddle back in the same condition and always send everything recorded as i was a power seller on ebay and the amount of scamming buyers that make out they havent received things is ridiculous and they are always pretty much guaranteed there money back if its only send 1st class etc, your lucky you used parcel force so hopefully you can make a claim for damaged goods in transit, fill us in when you get it back what happens xxx

Don't worry yourself too much, I'm sure in your case Ebay will want proof that the buyer has returned it to you , before they refund, because you have proof that it was delivered, just make sure you keep hold of any evidence you have and insist that it is returned 'tracked' so that you can keep tabs on it, and see that they have posted it back, and not just saying so.

try ringing them they do have a number, sometimes its easier to speak and explain to a real person than to keep mailing them (which sometimes is just a generated auto response) tell them about the photos nthat will help, also if i sell anything i tell them quite clearly i don not accept paypal even tho ebay says you have to offer it, it out it in the description thaty i wont accept it, its all a con and very expensive

I will never use Ebay again I recently sold a brand new pair of Ariat Grasmere boots for just £72 including postage, the buyer swears she never received them and put a claim into paypal, and despite having proof of postage paypal have taken her side and refunded her money therefore leaving me £72 out of pocket and no Ariat boots I put a claim into Royal Mail but only received £50 as compensation leaving me £22 out of pocket Never again!

I always check peoples rating anything under a 98% I wont touch be they sellers or buyers, I once bought a western saddle pad, paid for it the same day and never received it. No joy from e bay or seller, lost both my money and the pad and the seller removed their account.

Gosh this is awful, I put up a post this week about a quality bit I sold and the woman says it wasn't 5 1/2 but 5 1/4. I sent her tel nos of four retailers and the manufacturer who would confirm the bit has never been made in 5 1/4. Its all gone quiet, haven't heard from her, but I am expecting worms to crawl out of the wood.
Really not as bad as your situation though. I hope it works out in your favour. I am not going to sell again either now.
Don't think this is a moan, you are perfectly entitled to be furious.

I had a very similar when I sold my wii. They man sent a 'item not as described' message saying it wasn't as new condition, it was covered in scratches and really badly damaged. I was so worried as I had heard all the horror stories above that paypal would just take the money out my account etc. We sent a few messages back and forth, he threatened to take a dispute against me unless I took to wii back and refunded him minus £25 for postage as good will. I sold it to him for £250 as it had EVERYTHING with it. I told him to shove it and that I had loads of photos I took at the time of listing the item. I also ask him to confirm the console serial number as I was convinced he was trying to scam me. I also told him I was quite prepared to the dispute myself and was no way going to take his sh*t. I spoke on live chat to eBay and explained it all to them. They told me they can not force either party to make a refund but do encourage us to talk to each other to try and find a resolve. They emailed me a copy if the conversation dialog. I then emailed the man again and told him once again to shove it. Never heard from him again. That was over 5 months ago. Good luck x

I recently bought a show jacket described as "as new, only worn once or twice" paid the £200 plus postage and when it arrived it had dirty stains on it and the silk lining inside the jacket was all ripped. I contacted the seller who said it wasnt like that when they posted it, but unless someone at royal mail tried it on, wiped their nose on the sleeves then groomed their horse with it then i find that hard to believe. Anyway i contacted ebay and opened a dispute, then contacted the seller and we settled on me paying £150 which is generous on my behalf i think, but i paid the £200 at the end of the auction and the seller said they havent received it, so maybe ebay are holding her payment until resolved but i would never try and get the jacket for nothing as i am very honest and i have everything crossed that you get your case solved and either the money or your saddle back x

All i can say is ditto!!! absolutely no support for sellers on ebay they always find cases in favour of the buyer.....its easier for them. And if you put in a complaint or try to argue a case they just charge you for the sellers fees aswell as loosing the money for the item. I suffered a torrent of abuse from an ebay buyer who basically 'didnt like' the saddle when she got it and made some lame excuse to ebay. ebay found the case in her favour even tho there was no case she was just a liar!!Aparently ebay never read the case just find the buyer in the right because it makes them more money and saves them hassle. Especially now you cant leave negative feedback for buyers!!!! what a joke!! luckily i got my saddle back in one piece but i sent ebay a snotty letter saying i would never sell again on there even tho i had over 200 positive reviews!! i hope it gets sorted! x

Yes my friend sold a computer on ebay and the man came and tried it when he picked it up. He then emailed her to say it wasnt working and he wanted his money back and he opened a dispute with paypal and got his money back. We think he changed his mind. Waste of time for my friend who had to relist it and it works fine, even had the monitor with it.

Did paypal contact you to find out if you have received the goods back? My friend got her computer back as the man brought it back, but how on earth can they take the money out of your account if you dont have the goods or know if the goods are returned in the condition sent. Asking for payment by cheque only has its advantages by the looks of things.

Ebay can be a great place to buy &sell, but there are allways the rip of merchants who really take the p! What we have found works is , get a good deposit via pay pal to cover cost of listing and posting, then wait for a cheque or bank transfer, genuine people will usually get a cheque in the post straight away. If you have good feedback most folk will trust you to post your items quickly, esp if you list why you do it this way. I am lucky enough not to have been "had" but am sure it will happen

saddle came today whoop whoop, the only damage i can see is a small crease in the leather by the cantle, it wasnt there before and isnt in any photos i have, the tree seems fine, will take it to my saddler to be checked as a friend wants it. I would never sell a damaged saddle, i'll refund her have to send her a cheque dont trust her enough to send a postal order.
No pay pal didnt check saddle was posted back to me, un real, will close my pay pal and ebay account will buy and sell person to person only. At least i got my goods back!!!
