ha ha i know how you feel - our next door neighbour is literally ripping his house to pieces. He has no carpets down and very little plaster boards up so we can hear every single movement they make. Not exactly light footed either when charging up the and down stairs at midnight onwards when rolling in from the pub. You have my sympathy!

Arrgghh, tell me about it! Our next door neighbours are in a band~ literally some night they are practising 3-4am in the morning- considering i have to go to school, and my room is nearest to the garage they practise in~ im normally awake until they finish. On the other side the neighbours must live in their garden. We can hear them at all hours of the day/night, talking and shouting... Then behind us are complete party obssesives... most friday-saterday nights they have loud parties...
Sorry about that... Needed to get it out!!

Year's ago my mum's solution to the noisy nocturnal neighbours problem was to treat them to a blast of the "1812 Overture" at 6am the following morning on days we were up ready to head off to a show.

I had a similar problem, the key is to complain at everyone you can. I am quite confident and had to problem about banging on the door and telling them to shut the hell up! I rang the police, company that managed the property, the letting agents, council, you name it I complained to them! They don't want to know at first but be persistent. Also keep a diary. They were eventually evicicted when I used my trump card of them keeping pets. No body want to make any one homeless but when they repeatedly woke my baby in the early hours after plenty of warnings I snapped!

I live on the side of a mountain, but the property is semi detached. I've lived there since 1998, and we've had 4 sets of neighbours in that time, but the current ones are driving me bananas. All the previous ones have had dogs, but these are getting ridiculous. The've got at least 12, of all shapes and sizes, breed & look after other peoples dogs. My daughter has had to move into a different bedroom because they were keeping dogs in the room next to her. She goes home mid-afternoon to grab a couple of hours sleep between her shifts as a carer, but couldn't sleep for the yapping. We have a friend with a 5 year old child living in our caravan at the moment - and their dogs which are kept outside bark at all hours, so are waking him up. I've spoken to them (managed not to shout!!), and now they've stopped talking to us!!

Hi Amieelee - Rubytwoshoes is completely right, i work as a housing officer so taking action on noisy neighbors is a big part of my job, you need to complain to their landlord (do they have one or is it privately owned?) but the most important advice is too keep diary notes on times, dates and what the disturbance is, if it carries on and they have been given a fair chance to change the behavior a court will ask you to provide proof of the behavior and these diary notes are evidence.

Just be aware, if you go 'official' on noisy neighbours, should you come to sell your house, you may be asked if there have been any disputes with your neighbours, and legally you have to tell the truth.

Pencaedu - if they are looking after other people's dogs then they surely need a licence? Maybe that is the route to go? Good luck.

we have someone three doors down who locks her dog ourside from 5am onwards and it whines constantly...luckily she is on my facebook, and a simple 'status update' gets the message across...prob is, puppy is turning into a dog, and occasionally the whines turn to barks...

our old neighbor was an alcoholic, never worked, blasted his music and video games all the time, council said the noise wasn't loud enough and so did f*ck all to help us even when people were round to record noise level and he threatened to petrol bomb our house
he would go out and get wasted and the police would pick him up and take him home for us to listen to - wish i got a free ride home after a night out, then we had to hear him throw up the next morning
nice to know where my taxes go - to help scum like that

Knock on their door and say "Could you please be a bit more quiet and discreet while you are S******G each other senseless every night for hours on end ?" ;D That might quieten them down a bit. Otherwise, play some REALLY loud music in the room above where they "sleep" every day when you get up at 6am

Our neighbours are terrible. Their dog barks non-stop all day and as I work from home some times I had to say some thing. Spoke to them nicely and it stopped. Thankfully! Now our other neighbours have decided to rent out their 3 bed house to 6 teenagers. All couples; I know what you mean by the going at it all night. I do not know where they get the energy... I get up at 5/5.30 so am very tempted to move the sub woofer (sp?) and speakers to their wall , buy some heavy metal and blast them out of bed lol!

Ugh, I lived next door to a club DJ in Essex. His other occupation was filling his garden with stolen cars. After 18 hours of extremely loud hardcore drum & bass, my husband had to stop me going round at 3am to shoot him.
We moved. It was easier.
